The Rad Gun is rather broken.
Simply put, you don't ever have to reload it. You can keep its stacking damage bonus forever. Just get it stacked to a high damage level with active reloads and then use another gun for a bit then switch back to it with the stacked damage and a full clip.

Meh, it might help save massive amounts of ammo on room clears, that's for sure. But if you don't have anything more beefy for the later bosses even with a very NOOICE Rad Gun I find the weapon switching too time-consuming and distracting to call the gun broken.

I do, however suspect the auto-reload in the inventory is kind of unintentional with this gun.

Auto reloading diminishes your damage to 25 a bullet from like 100 when using rad gun.

You ain't discovered nothing boi

True, but it's still considerably better to passive reload, which is what this is about. Unless you are insanely good and can pull off more than 3 active reloads under pressure while having it at 2 or 3 reloads already before entering the boss, it's still not a boss weapon and it still saves on ammo when room clearing.
If you can do that, kudos to you. For all others, 25 a pop is nothing to sneeze at.

I'm still not convinced the passive reload is intented. It feels more like a bandaid so the system didn't have to be changed for that one gun. Which is okay, of course. Just feels weird.

Really? When I was using it, the passive reload from not reloading it didn't seem to diminish the damage at all. It still two hit things. And when I did reload it after passively reloading it a bunch, the reload thing was still the same.
Also yeah, it is much more useful for room clears than boss kills. And it really doesn't feel intended.

nice tip to have i suppose. it's nice for room clearing. i find it ineffective for bosses though.

I know I'm late to this but using that auto reload tip. Did you know if you that that is a nice way to recharge your cooldown on your item super quick if you need it?

Now that's rad.

Maybe that's what the developers had in mind, no?

about reloading under pressure more than 3 times under pressure is hard... that's true BUT...don't do it under pressure. Once you get over 3, you can 1 or 2 shot most enemies, then just reload after the battle. if you mess up, just fire once and reload 3+ times at nothing to get back to where you left off. it may 'waste' 3+ bullets but the extra damage in return will save em quick.

Rad Gun receives a penalty and drops in power to 25 if you do passive reload, so... don't do that.

But the coolness still remains Right?

Its not a passive reload, its switching off and using another gun for a bit so it regains full ammo in the clip without reloading. Unless this was fixed, which I don't think it was.

That's exactly what a passive reload is.

Huh. I guess it was patched.
