Any season other than 2025 preseason isn't playable

I've tried multiple starts outside of 2025 season start. Historical seasons or live start both are unplayable inaccurate.
In a live start with the Yankees, all their people on the IL are accurately injured, but on the Mets AAA team - Gerrit Cole's salary absolutely cripples their finances and forces a mass selloff of top tier talent.
In a 2021-2023 starts with the Mets, it gives a random owner instead of Cohen which doesn't work unless they roll "Generous" or else my budget is so low I can't make any moves for years.
Also the coaches - all random generated (and terrible) rather than the actual manager, Buck Showalter being the coach. He is on the list to hire, but he won't work for the Mets as if we just fired him even though he was the actual coach at the time. The hiring pool is incredible shallow so all my coaches are bad and can't even replace them or set up the farm system.
Yet when I look at other teams, or start with another team and look at the Mets, all the coaches are accurate for the time.

Am I missing some obscure setting that is doing these types of things?

You have no idea what you're talking about. OOTP developments do not control the content of the game. The original devs only do what their Korean masters tell them to do.

The original dev is gone from the company effective this year, sadly. While the team around him may be in place there is no telling where this franchise goes without his vision.
