Fire cracker darts not working

i have rescued Christopher Gliss and am stuck because i am unable to fire the fire cracker darts near the shed..I am unable to walk away from the location and am stuck The air rifle does not appear when I press Q. Please could someone give a dummies guide to help me

Do you load in / still get stuck after reloading the game / your save?

I've reloaded the game, verified the files and it still won't work. The game started where I finished, following Gliss, but i can't get any further.Should the air rifle show when i press Q?
I can't face starting a new game since I've already done that and exactly the same thing happened. Thank you for your suggestions but I'll give it up as a glitch that cannot be sorted.
