Assassins Creed Rogue Crash On Startup
I did install last night of AC Rogue, no issues everything worked fine. This morning I wake up to try it out and the as soon as the game launches it crashes giving the bellow error message. I contacted UBI they said it's a Steam App issue and to verify files. Once it was completed it said 100% so means all good right? No, still crashes. Anyone got any ideas on what I should try next?

totally same problem for me. I've tried running different compatibality modes, but all i got out was a "The screen solution is wierd"-ish message. After trying to fix for some time i dont even get that message anymore, but it just instantly crashes

i think i found a solution. If you have bought it as a redeem code thing and it wants to connect to your uplay account say no. that worked for me somehow. (i also ran it as administrator and on combatibality mode for windows 7, if that alone doesnt work)

You got (((screwed))) by ubisoft. They hate gamers, and hate you. All they want is your money.
Ich konnte das Startproblem/Black Screen-Problem auf folgende simple Art und Weise lösen:
1. ini-File zu Assassin’s Creed Rogue öffnen. (Bei mir unter Dokumente  Assassin’s Creed Rogue)
2. BorderlessWindow=0 zu BorderlessWindow=1 ändern.
3. ini-file speichern.
Seitdem habe ich keine Probleme mehr. Vielleicht klappt es ja auch bei anderen. 😊

I could solve the start-up/black screen problem this way:
1. Open the ini-file of AC Rogue (In my case in Documents  Assassin’s Creed Rogue)
2. Change BorderlessWindow=0 to BorderlessWindow=1
3. Save the file.
Didn’t have any problems after that. Hope it helps others as well. 😊

I had the same problem. Disabling HDR in Windows display settings solved it for me.

For me it helped to disable the fullscreen optimisations in the compatibility tab within the settings of ACC.exe in the game folder.

Yep this is how I do it too. Rather than mess with my HDR settings just to launch one game

Go to your game installation folder and locate the acc.exe file
Right click it and click 'Properties'
Click the 'Compatibility' tab
At this point I usually click 'Change settings for all users' but this may be unnecessary, I just prefer to do it that way.
Tick the box that says 'Disable Full-screen optimisations'
Click Apply/OK

Hopefully your game should launch now without having to disable HDR each time.

Thanks, Kenny32673.

If this is confirmed by other players as a working fix, we will lock this thread as resolved.
