Templar?
This may have already been discussed but I am playing Rogue for the first time and would like to comment. I'M A F-ING TEMPLAR NOW?
I know it seems a little silly to be upset but after playing 5 games and being told that the Assassins are right and the Templars are power hungry, money grubbing, heartless dictators, it is hard to except thisnew angle. It is like playing as an Allied Soldier for 5 games then suddenly becoming an officer in a Nazi consentration camp. Or to compare it more contemporarily, I just joined ISIS.
And over an issue that may have been able to be solved with a good heart to heart talk with my fellow assassins.I have just started the campaign and all of a sudden the assassins are horrible criminals destroying cities and bringing down neighborhoods where in every other game they were a secret organization.
Why the drastic change in direction.

The Assassins are right?
If you think that then we haven't been playing the same game.

The Templars and the Assassins are two sides of the same coin.
One want's to control peoples thoughts, either directly or through manipulation, in the interest of global peace and prosperity.
The other want's humans to be free of all control but their own and through that gain peace and prosperity.

Neither side is right nor are they wrong. They both seek to influence human.

There is no good or evil. They basically want the same thing, but they reach their goals in different ways.

Yeah, I guess that is the way of it.

I don't think I meant to imply right or wrong, I meant to point out how quickly the charactor changed allegance.

lol dude, I'm totally with you. I don't know if politics plays a role in this game, like a team of "different minded" people got a license and made a game from their point of view. I don't know.

I was really excited to play more of a pirate adventure, but the quality just seems lacking overall so far.

Your comparisons were hilarious too. So true.

The game was officially announced on August 5, 2014, following a leak of the title.[12] Game director Martin Capel described the game as finishing the series' "North American saga" and that the game was designed to accommodate specific fan requests, such as taking on the role of a Templar.[1] The game is intended to "fill the gaps" of the story between Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and has "a crucial link" to the events of the previous games.

Yeah, was also hopping for more of a pirate thing. Kinda doesn't make sense that a this character is doing pirate or privateer stuff for no apparent reason. Still fun though.

What did you THINK was going to happen when you bought a game called "Rogue" with a guy on the cover who has the Templar insignia?

its a great game, it actually strikes a really interesting tone and offers both points of view.

great, great title. can't watch to play more and watch Turn!

Actually the direction isn't changed in general as we see Assassin's Creed Syndicate still focus upon the assassin's side. The Assassin's Creed Rogue is a side-story which isn't the actual main direction of the whole Assassin's Creed.

just been playing it. it's got a heck of a lot of new awesome features, it's really a WAY, WAY better game than black flag.

i love it, it's got a lot of GREAT stuff...

I fail to see any new awesome features whilst noticed a lot of old features:
  • berserk grenade ripped right from Assassin's Creed Revelations
  • stalker and stalker-circle vision ripped right from the older multiplayer system
  • dual-wield combat combo and techniques ripped from AC Black Flag
  • the air-rifle is just a cosmetic version of the pipe-gun
  • the grenade launcher basically a cosmetic version of the guillotine gun

... nevertheless, the gameplay is alright with a fair storyline; however, I will not consider it "great".

  • Arctic naval environments
  • Icebergs
  • River naval environments
  • Naval team-based ship battles
  • Skirmish team-based land battles
  • Enemy assassins, or Stalkers are a NEW element, adopted from multiplayer, yes
  • Multiple nationalities of guards in towns, dependent on time of conflict
  • Reverse boardings
  • Assassin interception
  • Economic zones
  • Much better gear/ship/crafting progression (not super easy and meaningless)
  • Puckle Gun
  • Oil Slick

I'm sure there's more, the game runs beautifully compared to Black Flag, and overall seems a lot more "polished and directed" in terms of actual gameplay.

It's a great title, a greater sequel to Black Flag, and it served very well up until Witcher 3 and will after.

Don't fight Dim Six. It is far easier to spew negative comments then to find a positive in anything in life. When you drive down the road, do you notice green lights or fume at red ones.
This is a GOOD game, I am entertained, as are you. I have been frustrated and vented many times on A.C. forums because I hate Third Person games but over all this entire story is one of the best on going stories to me. I am sucked in every time. I was only a little shocked at how quickly the character changed sides of the same coin. Continue to enjoy the things you love and don't let anyone make you doubt for a moment.
