Microstutter @ 60fps
I'm quite sensitive to this so perhaps others haven't noticed it, but when running (v-sync) at 60Hz there's a noticable microstutter - particularly if you slowly pan the camera around you'll see dropped frames, even though the total framerate (without v-sync) is well above 60fps and my CPU/GPU usage is minimal. Enabling adaptive v-sync causes constant tearing.

If I use half-refresh v-sync (even at 4K) I get a smooth 30fps with no missed frames. Is this just poor engine performance, or does anyone know why this game isn't entirely smooth at 60fps?

If microstutter is present in a game, then I tend to notice it. Having said that, I haven't seen any in this game. Its always down to refresh rate discrepencies. Are you using an nvidia card or an amd one? Have you tried forcing standard vsync through the drivers?

Yeah, tried forcing v-sync (normal and adaptive) in the control panel. What's weird is that I played AC 3 and 4 not that long ago (in the last six or seven months) and they were smooth at 60fps. My refresh rate is listed as 60, and that's exactly what Windows reports it as. Have tried all sorts of things - limiting the frame-rate to 60fps in Nvidia Inspector, etc. Nothing works.

Only thing I haven't tried is a newer driver. I'm on 347.88. Would rather avoid changing drivers through, as SGSSAA is broken in newer drivers.

I'd rather have a game I could play rather than holding off over an AA solution. Its worth a shot, I'd say.

I guess it's worth a try, just for my own information if nothing else.

Microstutter is VERY offputting if you suffer from it. The "average" user tends to think an intel gpu is a high end gaming card.

People pay their money and have every right to complain if they're having problems. Whether these complaints are listened to or not is another story.

Should have noticed sooner; a level 0 private profile. Classic troll. Why am I even indulging you?

I am going to try a different driver, but in the meantime I tried playing at 50hz and it was buttery, so the problem is only at refreshes of 60hz (and above I presume).

I had this issue with every other AC game (apart from UNITY... I bought Black Flag on PS4 so don't know if it's an issue on PC)
As mentioned above the engine seems to have an issue capping FPS to VSYNC which leads to that annoying "stutter" effect.

New AMD drivers (15.7) have a "frame rate limit" option which should be set for the refresh rate of your monitor (assuming 60) - Unfortunately this option doesn't work with the previous games seeing as it needs something running in dx10 or above (previous titles were dx9, Rogue is dx11 thankfully)

As for NVIDIA GPUs:

-Download/extract and start NVIDIA Inspector
-Click on the small icon right next to "Driver Version"
-Click on profiles, chose Archeage
-Scroll down to "Common"
-Set "Frame Rate Limiter" as you like
-Restart the game

Hopefully this should elimintate stutter. If all else fails just turn off vsync, you'll get tearing but it should be smoother.

Black Flag at least doesn't like being capped. It made the sound stutter in my case.

None of the many fixes I've come across seem to fix the microstutter problem I get with this game and only this game.

Try
1. start the game
2. Go to task manager, switch to detailed view, right click AC2, choose "affinity" and only pick Core 0 and Core 1. Should solve the problem.
