I'm still surprised at the bad water graphics...
The game uses overall the same engine as AC-IV: Black Flag, and when I remarked on my surprise when at the very start of the game I couldn't help but notice how bad the water graphics looked, some responded that it had to do with these waters being much further North, outside of Boston, New York and the regions next to these while Black Flag is set in the tropical Carrabeans. And yes, that's true, the waters will obviously have a somewhat different look, f.ex. being a darker blue which color tone are captured pretty well in Rogue.

But everything else about the water at sea continues to be very low quality - that is, in my personal opinion, of course. Take a look at the game trailers I link to below. The water in that game looks like it should've looked in AC: Rogue - you may also notice that it's an Early Access game! Yet the quality of water graphics greatly outdoes AC: Rogue... It is perplexing, really, because Ubisoft developers obviously are very much capable of creating astonishing looking game worlds, including the water at sea in different oceans around the world, there's virtually nothing these guys cannot create in a way that makes you go "WOW!!" - yet, for some reason in the case of Rogue they didn't.

Here's the video trailer link I mentioned (Click the rectangualr shape with the words 'NAVAL ACTION'):

P.S. I thought it would show the actual trailer, but that clearly isn't the case. However, it's just a click away, I hope it won't be too much of a bother.

Thanks for reading and watching. Leave your comments below and get that debate rocking. ;)

You should have guessed that AC Rogue would be inferior than AC IV in the graphics department. That's because AC IV was made for PS4 and Xbox One too, which is where the PC version came from. AC Rogue was exclusive for X360 and PS3.. so the game lacked all the extra quality AC IV received. Rogue looks more or less like AC3.... or AC IV on last gen consoles.

The biggest thing that stood out to me was the load distance of textures. That's one of the reasons Rogue runs so well on PCs - the load distance for the textures is so low, that you constantly see texture pop-in as you walk around which looks terrible. Great performance, but definitely a lower-grade quality to the appearance of the game. Just another example of the lowly consoles having a significantly negative effect on gaming quality.

That too... you can see some buildings that are not even far alway being completely blurry with N64 textures and the higher res texture only pops in when you are very close to the building.. it's hard to look.
