this is not an actual real flag. which means Ubisoft definately made it up themselfs, specificly for this game only, and definatley represents either a fake country, county, state, ally or enemy.
The closest actual flag you can find on google that looks like this one, is from an episode of Stargate Atlantis; the flag of Devon, which is a county in Wales; a political flag from Puerto Rico; and the Isle of Barra flag, which is on the west coast of Scotland.
Next time you find a ship with this flag, identify it with your telescope, 'cause that's probably the only information you will get about it.

It is the flag on one of the Morrigan's masts, the flag displayed on the other mast is the 1707-1801 flag of the Royal Navy.

It also appears on the gang hideouts that the British Army captured from the Assassin gangs.

My guess as to what it is, is that it is Shay's personal standard.

Thanks, I haven't played this game before, and haven't gotten this far in the game yet.
So yeah, as you just said, it might just represent Shay's templar flag, or something.

Similiar flag there is in the greek revolution of independance 1821 and during the 1st kingdom of Greece. Probably one of the designers has greek origins.

That's the LGBTQIAOUXYZ+ flag dint'ya know...
Templars are normally a secret society so their flags can't exist in history. It's probably a secret code flag for Shay's british allies.
