Depending on your control scheme (for an Xbox controller it's the 'B' button), hold the skip button. You should be able to skip the end credits after the mid-credits cutscene. The prompt that usually shows up that says "hold (button) to skip" doesn't show, but the skip still works, and will put you back into the game.

Shoddy craftsmanship on Ubi's part. Hopefully the Remastered version fixes some of these glaring errors.
