Burst
After getting to King or whatever is the tier before the last on the battlepass I noticed very quickly that everything that worked before no longer works and I can't tell if I'm just supposed to hail mary, assume I'm going to lose and grab all the health relics I can to be top 4. All the while ignoring half of the relics because they don't fit into that.

Gathering interest and defeat comp still gets me ♥♥♥♥ on most of the time and even if I make it to round 15+ even after figuring out what build is happening, looking at the damage done to me and actively building to counter it it's 9 times out of 10 not enough for the sheer burst coming my way in this tier of matchmaking.

You just explode. No other builds work, it's just make person explode second 1. Poison in particular I'm like, it might as well be Holy Damage, but then I guess it wouldn't get amped by ice/wound so it would actually probably be better. It just doesn't feel like the efficiency down skills work well enough and besides dodge naturally giving Phy-resist and HP branch giving magic resist as well as rage eventually is you're lucky enough to get that. Even so with the efficiency you still just explode, just second 2 maybe.

So at current is the meta just explode or make them explode? ♥♥♥♥ counters and defense all offense?

Poison its so supid. All people reach on branch 4 stars poison and GG.

all depends on what branches are available - here a little tip, just look at the branches and think about what can win endgame. you will see that some characters in some lobbies are terrible and maybe you spectate once in a while something you are not expecting.

with all depends on the branches it's usually that in an aggressive lobby (1 or less defensive branches) it's all about the burst and usually freeze or wound can be pretty good at insta killing. sometimes it's good to take up the 1 defensive - sometimes not. usually it's a lot about getting the mythical and maybe taking anti skill of your last opponent.

there can also be defensive lobbies - for example its pretty hard with poison to get through huge sprites + shield + hp.
crit + magic damage can sometimes win some of these but often dodge mythical is the one to take.
there can be also ulti spamming lobbies

base attack is usually a pretty bad tactic - it just get counters too hard by freeze / dodge / ult spam and need to outdamage like wound / poison. might be fine to get it early to 8/16 for a winstreak but over 24 is usually questionable.

obviously it still depends a bit on treasures and some combination can be a bit oppressive (like 3x poker/ heritage)

I've been testing it and yeah. No. Unless you're 1v1 someone at the end with health advantage and gold income. ♥♥♥♥ it. Go full burst. ♥♥♥♥ all the other branches. If you lose its because everyone else is bursting faster than you. That's what it comes down to, which invalidates a ♥♥♥♥ ton of heroes too because they rely on living for more than a second but they dont. You never do so burst it up
