Boss's voice is not Solid Snake!

Keifer Sutherland (Jack from 24) is not a cool voice for the legendary Solid Snake. David Hayter is the only true voice that made the dialogue fun and memorable. Hearing Jack Bauer's voice as Snake ruins the otherwise great game.

Edit: Guess it's my Nostalgia but it seems Keifer is Big Boss and David is Solid Snake. I'm Ok with it now; thanks :-)

Many people will have already pointed this out, but the character you play as is not Solid Snake but the 'original' Snake, otherwise known as 'The Boss' or 'Big Boss'.

However!...You played as Big Boss in MGS3, who was voiced by Hayter, so yeah. But people argue that his voice could have changed as he aged a little but tbh, it's all just excuses.

I miss Hayter's voice too, but I can understand why they replaced him with an experienced actor. In the credits, it says facial motion capture was also provided by Kiefer Sutherland. As great as Hayter's voice is, he's unproven in that kind of work.

Plus, with Kiefer comes extra publicity, thus exposure of the game to people not already familar with the series. I'm going to miss Hayter but I'm more than willing to give Kiefer a chance.

From what I've read David Hayter seems like a pretty chill dude, I read some of his AMA's on reddit and he seems pretty cool guy but honestly he isn't such a good voice actor in my opinion. I mean i don't have much experience with his career out side of the MGS series and the Solid Snake voice he did never had any real emotional depth to it.

I think Sutherland does a better job than he did at least so far...

But thats just my unpopular opinion!
