I feel the same. And of course it's fine if older Big Boss has a different VA, but it's just sad to see such a cool guy and a beloved VA get snubbed like that. I guess we don't really know everything that went on there, if anything else happened they won't talk about, or if Kojima really did just decide he didn't need Hayter anymore with a budget big enough to hire a "real actor"
If this game goes full circle with the first Metal Gear, you might just get what you want.
I'd really like to believe that this is all just a stunt, but I don't really see the point of making a lot of fans angry just for the sake of being "sneaky."
And from the way Hayter reacted to people bugging him about being involved with the new games, seeming pretty insistent that he was "out", I just have a hard time believing he's going to be coming back.
We can always hope though.
I think that comes more from the fact that Hayter's been snake's voice since the beginning of 3D MGS. It was like when they changed dantes appearance on the lates DMC, id didn't strike right. Maybe if it was the first MGS we wouldn't have thought bad of it.
but the way hayter tells it, it's like they just left him in the dark. hitman absolution had a similar situation, until they realized it'd cost them sales and they put the original voice actor back in.
honestly, it's idiotic whoever decided that it wasn't worth letting the guy know that they're changing voice actors long before the media gets wind of it. if it was kojima...well i think everyone is allowed to be a raging ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron once in their lives.
Like I said Hayter is not able to do Snake's voice like he used to be. He can still do it, but from what I've heard he lost his voice for a little while after MGS Peace Walker.
lmao...more realistic direction. meanwhile a girl in stripper outfit is flying round and teleporting. yep, totally a more realistic direction.
Japanese snake has been the same snake for every game, why do we need to suffer.
Yeah, I dunno, I guess I just liked Hayter too much and never noticed, I always liked him in the games but that might be me being blinded by how much I like Hayter. And I don't think Kiefer is bad at all... just... that transition, not good. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
He's okay, the change is pretty jarring though. I mean he's supposed to be Big Boss's voice now... except that he's calling himself Snake again in the game, which makes it worse I think, if he just went by Big Boss it would be more tolerable so there was a clear division between the transition where he becomes Big Boss and not Snake, hence the voice change.
And I know a lot of people were never impressed by Hayter's voice acting, or at least not in the later games... but I mean really, I always just felt like being flat and gruff was Snake's character. Like to me it suits his personality more than sounding overly emotional. Some people just never express their emotions in their voice or in any obvious way. Snake is "just an old killer, not a hero" in his words, he's jaded and is supposed to sound raspy and blunt.
It could be worse though, the camera could have panned in and from Snake's mouth comes Christian Bale.... "WHERRR ARRRE THEY!?"
