how to get mouse cursor to disappear
every time I try to get it to disappear it shows up again a spinning blue circle in the middle of the screen every time I try to get rid of it then it shows up again in the middle of the screen. Why does the game do this. This is the only game I have that does this. Can they update it to fix this problem as it is something they should have fixed before release.

It's really cute and all but I'm trying to play this on my couch with a controller. It's supposed to work with a controller, and technically it does. But after the 20th time I have to click the mouse once for that stupid blue thing to disappear again for 30 seconds before appearing again.....I just turn the stupid game off.

Like Metal Gear is my favorite series of all time. I'm beyond excited for The Phantom Pain. I can't believe such a stupid little problem is preventing me from enjoying this game.

How can you go so far to build the FOX Engine, make this game, and then some stupid mouse cursor problem is what prevents people from enjoying it.

Yeah it's annoying, what I did was go to graphics settings and change to fullscreen (it was borderless fullsceen) and that made the cursor change back to the arrow which can be just dragged to the bottom of the screen until it disappears. Still it really is stupid.

I'm playing with kb+mouse and I only get the cursor in menus. Oddly enough, I can't use the cursor in menus, I have to use arrow keys. It does display the circle icon.

I wonder how Kojima feels about it. All that effort to make something so great, all that collaboration with other people that put those ideas together and bring their own great ideas. There's a lot of talented people working on this series, and then.....blue circle.

It's just such an adorable cute blue circle, I can't stop paying attention to it. Whatever Snake is doing, immediately I'm distracted by the circle. I am a kitten and it is a ball of yarn.

Hey! I wrote a program last night that hides the busy cursor. Then it swaps it back to default when you close it. I posted it in another thread so I'll just copy paste the post here with the link... It completely solved the issue for me. (I tested it for maybe 3 hours total. As soon as I tried without it that damn busy cursor appeared. So it seems to work. Message me if there are any bugs or if you want a 32 bit version.)

CopyPaste:

So this issue was enraging me. It caused me to start playing the PS4 version so I wrote a little program that, while it's running, replaces the busy icon with a completely transparent square. So even if it appears, you won't see it at all. I tested it all last night and then this morning, it works perfectly.

Here's the link http://www.filedropper.com/gzhidebusycursor

If there's a better place to upload then let me know. Also let me know if you have any problems running it because they'll most likely be due to missing DLL files. It's written in C++ in Windows 7 on a 64 bit processor. If anyone needs a 32 bit version let me know. Yes, it's a simple, small program but it fixes this really annoying issue. You can trust me, it's not malicious at all, it's just a small C++ Windows program that swaps the cursor.

I think it's easier to do this than to download an icon, go into control panel and then swap for a transparent cursor (I had to make my own, couldn't find any online) and then swap it back.

So just double click "hidemouse.exe" and let it sit in the background (minimize if you want to) run Ground Zeroes, play, and when you're done close the program. It'll return your cursor back to normal and then close. Again, all it does is change your busy icon so it's invisible so you should be able to play using mouse and keyboard. (I wrote one yesterday that actually took control of the mouse and moved it off screen but that was a terrible solution for non-gamepad players.)

This issue was ruininng the PC version of this game for me and I've spoken to about 20 more people who are having the same issue. Even when you move the cursor to the corner you could still see it down there and if you clicked to get rid of it it was reappearing! So this fixes the issue until Konami patch it. (I haven't heard a response from Konami yet and I asked them for help in 2 different places. So I decided on some vigilante solutions -_-)

Enjoy this silly little program!

What i did was create an invisible cursor file and replace the spinning wheel with that.

LOL! Fear my power -_- Trust me, it isn't a virus. Scan it if you want to, it's just an empty Windows program that makes the busy cursor invisible while the program is open and then changes it back when you're done. It also shows a picture of Kojima's smug face (of course).

Look at my previous messages and my time playing Ground Zeroes. I actually programmed it for myself because I prefer playing on just my TV. It worked perfectly so I thought I'd share it with everyone. There's a guy in another thread who used it and seems pretty happy with the result.

Yeah, my program does that. It changes the cursor back to the spinning circle when you're done with it though so you aren't left with an invisible "busy" cursor and also you don't have to go into your control panel every time you want to play GZ.

Hi! i know this thread is very old but do you happen to still have the fix? it would be very helpful :lunar2019smilingpig:

I know I'm replying to an old comment but the fix doesn't seem to consistently work in Windows 10. There's another thread with some links, maybe ask for a copy there? I don't have it anymore but people are saying it didn't work anyway.

I reposted it last time I found it so maybe the links are still alive? Why this is even an issue still I don't know. Konami are a mess.

also dont forget that no one at valve tested this and thought it was an issue of quality control. Valve could also just get one of their programmers to make a fix seeing as how its their platform and ultimately their embarrassment at the end of the day because this lack of quality is throughout all of steam.

The program by TheRigGerMortis would be good, but if you are paranoid then...

You can set it to Fullscreen, then Alt+Tab to the desktop and then back to the game and the pointer will turn to an arrow which you can hide in the bottom right corner.

They seem to have left off the polish with GZ, there is no library cover art or logo added unlike TTP.

June 2020, and its still an issue.. This is ridiculous!

This did not work for me. It always returns to center within 30seconds

CDPR would fix the bug themselves if the developers were too much of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to do it themselves. Valve is just as bad as Konami. Seriously.

This is exactly why we need to support platforms that care about us like GOG.

Strange that this didn't work. I always have steam open so switching between the game and steam window (in my example) by pressing Alt+tab changes the loading cursor into arrow which then I can just hide in the bottom of the screen. I would not recommend to be pressing right mouse button willy nilly after the switch.. Just hide it in the bottom of the screen or the side
