METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES

Never played an MGS-Game. Can I start with Ground Zeroes?
As PC-only player, I couldn't play MGS3 or MGS4. The first ones are too old. But I would like to start with this series. Is Ground Zeroes a possible starting point?

You can, but you would get a lot more of the story if you watch MGS3 first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zndcY57Tijo

After that, might as well check out the Peace Walker movie, since that is both the follow-up to MGS3 and introduces the cast of this game and the Phantom Pain..

Okay thanks. I'll check it out :)

The twin snakes (gamecube remake of the first) runs great on dolphin. MGS3 is also something you should not miss. (use pcsx2) Portable ops is rubbish, it was novel when it came out, but peacewalker supercedes it in every way.

No you don't need to play any of the old games because ths stories suck anyway, just start straight with this one and enjoy.

Actually the best is Twin Snakes, so don't play the original. PSX was a outdated hardware at that time, compared to the other consoles, and didn't came out as Kojima wanted to.

We are less than 3 months away from Phantom Pain. This is a demo. Wait for the full game.

Having said that, play MGS1 and MGS2 first, they are both on PC.

Really? I never understood why people think this. it's got the exact same people for voice over as mgs1 did (despite my friend claiming they didn't, I looked it up, they got all the same voice actors for all the main and even less-main characters (russian lady, natasha who shows up on codec when you enter the nuke area) are all same people, the cutscenes were redone inhouse at kojima, and its a damn good game, far easier on the eyes compared to the original, which low polygon count and lack of texture smoothing looks horendous in this day for a game with lots of close ups.

OP, first play twin snakes, then play MGS2 on PC (it's not that bad), then play MGS3 on 3ds. MGS4 is probably the best of them all.

twin snakes was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rad. i've played the original and twin snakes multiple times.

mgs 2 on pc, are you for real? that port is worse than the original resident evil 4 pc port.

Game worked fine for me back in 2004

About The Twin Snakes, that was Kojima's original vision. Dont listen to Sony fanboys that still butthurt about the game not being in the PS2.

he may need to look into alchemy if he's using anything for os besides XP. otherwise no sound. also depending on what visual settings you set, the textures will not load. (i had minimal sucess with setting to 1 to 2 before the highest, too low and no textures, too high and no textures)

I'm not saying it's not worth it, but if he has a vita or ps3, he might as well get the "HD" one since it will run way better and look just as good.

Blame Kojima, that was actually his original vision. Not to mention, Snake dodges bullets in MGS2, or can survive 3 minutes in a microwave in MGS4.

were you on xp? if so, thats why. the game not only doesnt work on modern gpus without third party fixes, it runs horribly with them. it also used direct sound, but dependant on older build that is phased out starting with vista and up, replaced mostly with WASAPI built in. most applications that use dsound dont have an issue, but ones where the devs didnt know what they were doing do. also the keyboard bindings are a wreck, and the controller support is limited to ones that windows recognizes off the bat (most, but any specialty controllers like the shield controller, or alot of bluetooth ones will not work at all) also setting the controller buttons different is a nightmare when i used it. you can configure the keyboard controls (but the lack of context in them makes it hard to impossible to find a good setup) but the controller buttons were all greyed out and forced to default ones.
