METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES

Any value doing Side-ops before Phantom Pain?
So I got the big MSG:V bundle. I downloaded ground zeroes first, and played it while Phantom Pain downloaded. Completed main story mission (twice actually, wanted to see if I could do better, turns out I'm terrible), and did one of the side ops.

Phantom pain should be done tonight, so I gotta know, should I finish the other side-ops in GZ before PP? Initial google-fu doesn't give a straight answer. I know there are some cosmetics to be had (nice but meh) and some recruits to be rescued. (I rescued the main mission dudes next to chico). Other than that does it matter if I go straight to PP?

If you really want to, you can, but they don't really add anything story-wise.

Does it matter? No, not really. But there are rewards for doing it which someone posted above.

Extra motherbase staff, some of them more famous than others.

You get the sneaking suit from Ground Zeroes, which is quite similar to the one you get in the game already (works the same as the original one as well). You can get the MGS1 Snake and Frank Jaeger skins as well. MGS1 Snake is the same as the MGSV sneaking suit 1. Frank Jaeger however has a superpower like it does in Ground Zeroes.

They're much fun short practice mission - better to be prepared before jumping into TPP

TBH GZ is harder than TPP.

I recommend you to give GZ side-ops a try. Even considering phantom pain is better than GZ, GZ is still a really good game, maybe you could skip time trials and S-ranking all missions, but there are still a few things to discover on camp Omega, like conversations, cassete tapes and exploring a little bit the different paths to solve a mission (Classified Intel acquisition especially).

^ hes right. Everytime I do just the main GZ mission I catch something new I hadn't seen or heard on a previous playthrough.

I'de say the value of doing side-ops is to collect all the cassettes tapes. It's the most important thing in my eyes as you didn't really finished GZ if you don't know all of what happened in the story. And to know all of what happens, you need the cassette tapes.
