honestly 9 isn't that long. You could change and breeze through the game. If you made a save during character creation you can skip the first bit of the game. Do that for subsequent playthroughs. Tip from me.
Anyway, what classes did you select and why don't you like them? What do you want to change and why? I know them all pretty well so I can tell you a bit about them and maybe see if you actually made the right choices.
Yes, I have save, I might restart.
I have chosen Inquisitor...but I have noticed over time, that I mainly play it as Melee and do not use spells at all - can't find any synergy.
I would try with pure magican :|
You have Brutality, which is 100% melee focussed and Discipline which is defense, but also melee focussed.
Lastly you have black magic, which is very potent at dealing damage, but not early on. Later in the game Void Arrow becomes really strong. But with the setup you will not use spells much, since the character you choose is mostly melee autoattack focussed with some abilities to deal with crowds and defense.
I have to add, spellcasters aren't very strong in this game compared to melee characters. You need a strong frontline to keep your spellcasters alive and if you do not pick melee you'll have to wait till the end of the map of Farlorn's Hope. This is not impossible, but you'll end up in melee until that time. So be wary of that.
Spellcasters need mana to cast, otherwise it's going to be very bad. White magic has a lot of mana regen options, especially later in the game when you can simply have full mana all the time. Combine this with any spell slinger and you're good to go. You don't have to pick white magic yourself for this though, a party member can provide this buff as well. White magic also provides shielding and healing, so that may be beneficial. White magic shield blocks negative effects such as silence, which is maybe one of the best things you can get on your character if you want to be a spellcaster.
In terms of ranged DPS white and black magic are not very good early on. Elemental damage however has a boost in spellpower and some AoE spells as well. You can go full spellcaster if you want. Just mind that the early game will be very rough.
And you can unlock black magic stuff passive which enchances auto attacks even further.
I think I completed my circle mage char with brutality+black magic+elemental tree.
Elemental tree was ONLY used for spellpower passive so spells are stronger including minions.
At high lvls if Tahar drinks most stat+skill potions you can have high enough stats to be a good mage and melee warrior in heavy armor with strong mana.
That black magic by itself is good you can respec if you want.
Clarity is MUST have for any mage party as it gives almost unlimited mana if used well.
Black magic has spell which deal pure dmg and has strong weaken skill too+void arrow can 1 hit kill most humanoids with good stats and useful just for interupt and mana drain.
On higher difficulties 100% immunes are not rare there are at least 3 95% all resistance optional bosses which have like 40hp regen per second on circle mage you can only kill him with pure dmg like from black magic or very late game weapons.
If you play on normal likely anything works.
Of course you can go full mage as well and restart.Good idea to make a backup save just before ending the prologue so you do not need to re- do it everytime.
