Well in other campaigns, some specific units get more spotlight and speciual missions where you have to bring more focus to them (like flying units in Soul Harvest).
Yes, in SH blueprints unlock units as expected. Only in the original campaign they don't seem to unlock except in rare occurrences. And I've spent a lot of coin on them on top of ones I found, so I've found most, if not all.
In that case, it's horribly unbalanced. After completing main and side quests about 75% into the campaign (hard to tell since you have to go back and reconquer those areas you won to obtain allies), I've unlocked only 3 advanced units. Even then, they were only available for that quest.
Why didn't they do it like SH since they were redesigning the whole campaign anyway? SH unlocks is much more sensibly and units are persistently available once unlocked.
