CORPORAL for the entire game???
So some mild spoilers here, but am I the only one annoyed that your main character, Tahar, stays at the rank of corporal for the ENTIRE game???

I am not all familiar with the ranking system in the spellforce universe, but come on! Its standard that a corporal is basically the second to last lowest rank in the military. And your telling me that a corporal gains the respect and leads a number of different factions to war not to mention some of the most powerful mages? He basically becomes the leader of the proto-Circle AND leads the Wolf Guard... all without a promotion???

Hell, later on in the story you are joined by the commander and chief of the entire Nortander military, and he follows your lead? Without even promoting you to a captain or even general?

Dont know what the devs were thinking, but i find it very lazy that they just leave him be at this rank. I love this game, but this is one of the things that really annoy me about the story.

Just wanted to rant a little.

The assignment in military beats rank anytime. And the queen slept during the entire game so official promotion had to wait.

I know about the queen. And Tahar gets joined by the queen’s supreme commander, who by all rights should have promoted him on the spot. Not just because of his exploits, but because the rank of corporal just doesn't have the same effect on any diplomacy/intimidation situation than say a captain or major or even commander. Plus, the queen in Soul Harvest continues to refer to Tahar as corporal even after his death. So she never promoted him for basically saving her queendom... just ugh.

Well since you were convicted and kicked out, chased by the Grey armies for being a traitor and murderer, you being a "Corporal" ended the minute you were put on trial and scheduled to die, you weren't in the military any more. That they still called you Corporal and not your name was just silly.

Even when the Queens city was taken over and Tahar went about gathering up a rebellion army to fight the Purity, he never was during the game reinstated back into the Queens military ranks, he was his own commander and leader, not part of the military structure again. The Queen's commander was under Tahar's leadership, not the other way around.

So I don't see a problem with any "promotion", my beef was they still called him Corporal when he wasn't part of the military any more. He was a civilian criminal at that point, not a "Corporal" anymore.

Well, since Lianion, Tahar was no longer a soldier. Therefore, he will receive no promotion as he/she is no longer a part of the chain of command. What's more is that Tahar became the leader of an expedition of sort when the Harbinger sprung him/her out of jail. In a sense, Tahar became an independent commander on the quest to end the Bloodburn. Kinda like Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 2.

Interesting point. And quite true.

BUT, they kept calling him Corporal!!!! Should have just been Tahar, or Commander or something.

Necro-ing this because I was going to post the same rant. Yes, it's ridiculous. Even before he's kicked out of the army, General Noria has him commanding entire armies, despite that being utterly ludicrous. Then there are multiple times throughout the game where they talk about how him being a corporal gives him experience leading armies, so various factions should put him in charge of their forces.

It's utterly nonsensical, and makes me think none of the designers gave it even a tiny bit of thought.

Back from the dead! Jaja. Had forgotten about this thread…

But yeah, I feel you. This still bugs me to this day.

At least in the expansion you play as an actual General and it is more believable that you can lead armies.

Bahahahahaha,

Just starting Soul Harvest. Years later, Tahar is now commander of the Wolf Guard and his new rank is....still Corporal. Even his own quartermaster outranks him (Sergeant)!

Maybe the devs are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with us.

It just occurred to me that the developers accidentally made all the characters 20 feet tall. I think they just don't think things through.

Maybe, just maybe he is remembered and addressed by this title, because he was *the* Corporal committing treason to *the* General Noria? Kek
