SpellForce 3 Reforced

One-man-army style of gameplay for the campaign?
In past Spellforce games you could finish almost every single mission by using only a hero characters. I'm pretty sure that wasn't really expected from the devs, but well, it made it's way into the game. With various AI abuses and some spells you could finish the game.
From what I saw in the beta, hero characters are pretty strong, but what's about base? Can we just ignore it or it's building is scripted into quests?

So far, being able to solo entire maps with just your hero's, don't think that is possible nor was it the intention from the devs. They specificly made the heroes not a 1 man army that can solo entire enemy area's (RTS part). Read it at past presentations of the game. I think they have the role now of 'leading' your armies instead of 'being' armies themselves. Sure at start they can be an army to deal with immediate problems, but you'll get outclassed in the long run.

The RPG parts sure, because it is intended for just the 'group' to handle.
The RTS, is going to be difficult or even impossible since some quests might even require you building a base to advance or just make it (far more) easier in the long run. Some quests do require you take over a sector to get acces to a specific building. Taking control of the sector will allow you to use the special building in it. So some scripts do come into play.

So far we've only had skirmishes and 1 campaign mission in the beta, so we don't know it is going to turn out for that. I do think the campaign mission does give you a good idea/impression on what to expect from the entire game.
