I played the open beta and had a blast came to see if its on sale yet and saw the mixed reviews. The reason I was waiting for the sale is because it was on sale forever before the release, but I dont do pre-orders on games unless I know what I'm getting.

I Liked the 3 races that you played in the beta and was liking the hero slection and skills but then I saw the mixed reviews and was quite confused. What happned between the open beta and now that caused it to suck?

It's pretty good. The game has recieved 28 patches since launch.

Around 20% of negative reviews came from trolls and sf1 elitists that turned the game on for 10 seconds, closed it, posted a negative review and refunded. Around 60-70% are outdated as they were negative due to game breaking bugs (which were purged out). And the remaining 10-20% simply didnt like the game too much as it wasnt their type/was missing something in their opinion. Overall the game deserves a better rating as its really good, especially the campaign.

Most of the negative rewiews were based on the bugs that a lot of people ran into that prevented them to continue that particular quest or sometimes even the story progression for a choice they picked.
As of now most of the bugs that you would run into about a good month ago are gone. Some of the more annoying ones remain which still puts people off, but most of the time there shouldn't be a problem.

For the hero part, some people don't like the skill tree's that are in this game and prefer the old SP1 style of skill/classes. It's a personal preference in the end imo.

So if you're still on the fence whether or not to go for it. Go watch a playthrough of the first few missions to get a feeling of the game. Or wait for a sale in the future if that doesn't convince you.

The game had an unfortunate start, quest triggering somehow didn't work.

Quests/Missions are give by heroes speak with certain other map characters,
like if you buy items from merchants.

So Example Person A has to speak with Person B, than protect village and speak to person B Again.
So in the mean time while making the quest person B was killed by Orcs, so you can't finish the quest,
the game does not tell you "oh no person B was killed you have to start over".

Or Person A has to speak with Person B, than speak to person C to finish the quest and somehow by person C the dialogue doesn't start, becouse person C was killed.

I had so far no problem to finish the story, because I did always protect all the NPCs and developer did make a lot of patches to fix this "events" in the story.


The Story is really great and it is awesome game.

The game is pretty good, i hvent had many bugs ( just 2 at this time and nothing wich broke my game or savegame) while playing it. sure they will be some bugs no game is perfekt :D so i would say that you should try it.. if you dont like it you can give it back within 2 months unless you played not longer than 2 hours. for me i would say that i played every spellforce except for faith in destiny till the end and this is the best spellforce title after the first one. and that is only cause you only have 3 factions to play dont get me wrong but i miss the dwarves and the darkelves

The game is amazing, I'm a total fan of the original Spellforce series and addons, (not 2, as it was ♥♥♥♥) and have figurines and everything and SF3 is about as good as you will get from a developer. It is superbly put together and has all the awesome things in SF1 that you want and love.

spellforce 2 wasnt that bad :D just faith in destiny ( ´-´)

some bugs were fixed, yeah, but some .. to my taste, pretty major, are still there .. like NPC lag movement .. and new bugs are appearing .. not worth 50 EUR .. this is more like beta testing.

Have you even checked negative reviews? They are all about bugs and not the gameplay itself, so if you liked the beta and want to play the full game, just buy it. Bugs will get sorted out in time, developers already patched the game dozens of times.

This game is already on my wishlist since day 1 and still lurking on forums every week. Wow so many patch and still so many bugs. Better off waiting for a sale, even if I get this game next year to play it smoothly.

You guys should really buy it and support the developers. The amount of effort that has gone in to this game, is insane. If you are wanting it just for MP, then I can't comment on that. But I'm having a blast in the campaign, there are so many incredible touches - like how if you are zoomed all the way out you hear mostly wind whistling or distant oceans, but zoom in a touch and you can hear the sounds of the city, or the rain in the jungle. Not to mention the dialog, it is ALL VOICED. It is just nuts, especially given you can choose party members, and they pipe up sometimes about quest options, and whether you did the right thing or not. The only bugs I've seen are some slightly broken animations, and some typos in dialog text. Otherwise it has been smooth sailing. They have been patching this thing like crazy too.

sure .. lets support them .. for 50 EUR you cant even play for 3 hours before running into a bug within MAIN quest line and cannot continue ..
Today still cant finish quest TALK TO MART to take leadership of the camp. When I talk to him, there is only "never mind" option.
If someone doesnt even care about the main quest line, makes a patch every second day, i dont think that they are worth supporting

Played for 8 hours non-stop without encountering a problem and hopefully I wont come across any serious game breaking ones. But seeing as how you dont even own the game, please just sod off.
