Wonder what happened with Tahar between SF3 and SF1
All of other circle mages are existed before, Rohen even very first character you encounter in SF1. But it seems like Tahar havent existed in any form in previous games

I haven't finished the game yet so I don't know what happens (Though I doubt the ending of the game will tell us what happens to him). If anything, either an expansion OR a sequel (not including the first 2 games obviously lol) will tell us what happens to him.

Damn, so my mentioning of that in a thread is actually accepted by wider audience. Though, I have no clue, if I said it first or if someone else already mentionend it plentiful.

Do we even have more information about the piper and his abilities/background story?

Afaik, he's a charismatic, uh, telepath or something? Mental magic? I could just have a look at the Wiki, but I don't wanna do that now. Have been saying, that it's likely that his telepathic abilities could be crafted into the abilities of The Piper story-wise.

I heard that from a guy on discord.

The Piper was skilled in mental magic especially in the area of Hypnosis. So thats as close to Tahar as we can get.

And thats pretty much all the info we have. Not much is known about most of the Circle mages aside their area of expertise. We're going through complete uncharted waters.

The devs have been very clever with extremely generic, silly and unoriginal source material. They've been faithful to the story but really fleshed out the characters here and have tried - successfully, in my view - to create a more convincing background and a logical, believable (in a fantasy way) Nortander that kind of works.

Someone at Grimlore certainly can write characters and dialogue.

I had also tended towards Tahar being the Rune Warrior (it would be tidy in terms of story), but Rohen and Tahar would have recognised one another in SF1, and as they didn't, and I think that matters to the devs.

So I suspect they have a plan for Tahar that ties him/her into the existing lore.

It also wouldn't surprise me if ultimately an expansion to SF3 also had a way to change history. They've been clever again in making convincing, sympathetic characters who, nevertheless all have reasons to end up becoming the bad guys. But....what if you could fix that?

And not in an Isgrimm way either.

I still dig the tahar as the rune warrior from sf1 theory as my personal head cannon, whether it is the official case or not though, i dont know.

But Rohen does recognize Tahar, as an "old friend". And considering how basic and crude sf1 dialogue and cutscenes were, this is about as close to a long "oh my god, tahar! its been so long, remember that time we teamed up as youngsters? well its time for you to fix my mistakes once again!" speech as we can get.

Finally, why THAT specific rune warrior out of all the many, many rune warriors rohen would have known in his long life? Not saying this headcannon theory i have is the right one, but a lot of pieces fit perfectly into it.

The Phoenix Bearer might as well be anyone else, Rohen mentions EIGHT years they haven't seen eachother so the possibilites are endless.

I think I read long ago that they contacted the original writer for the SP 1 game to work on this game, no idea if this went through or not.
Chaging history, I'm willing to believe that too, since Hokan and Ankthar have knowledge about the future in Demons of the Past ending

Also even if Tahar would be the famous Rune Warrior, wouldn't that be downplaying his ancestry as a Shaper? I think it defines who he really is. They could *ignore* it I suppose, but that would seem like a waste of the rather important story aspect.

Right now replaying SF1 and called my rune warrior Tahar anyway :P

I personally think Tahar is a first Rune Warrior and maybe as suggested earlier Rune Warrior from SP1.

Now after SF3 we know more about runes. They can control people, they can lock on essence in undeath state as punishment (guards in forgers city).
Probably can even save essence in some sort of cloud service for armies, or even copy-paste them
