"Cleaning up" at 0%
It is silly to have to be stuck on this screen.
I have a top of the line, brand new computer and there is no excuse for load times to be this long.
The funny part is when trying to exit out of game, when the "cleaning up" stays stuck at 0% forever... why does it need to clean up when I exit? Great game though, but load times need to be better.

This is getting very annoying. The game keeps getting "stuck" on this cleaning up screen every time i enter a new area. I have to alt-tab out of the game and restart, then it works, but the next time I enter another location, it locks up again.... this is silly!!!

or stop being so impatient..?

Uhm, it also happened to me once or twice, and to unfreeze it I simply clicked with my mouse once lol

What are your specs and what are you running the game at?
Conos Dec 25, 2017 @ 9:44am
I have the same problem. EVERY Load time it tooks about 1-3 Minutes at 0% cleaning, so when i go in an tiny cave and go back i have to wait 2-6 Minutes just for Loading..... that suxx realy hard....

R7 1700, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070 8GB AND and an EVO 960 M2. 3.200 MB Read/S... all other games load in a wink....

Aye, this is the single biggest annoyance I have... On average it takes 2 min to get past 0% cleaning up... then less than 5 seconds do do the entire rest of the load process...
While it's at 0% there's no CPU / GPU activity going on. Unless I'm running in Full screen windowed mode ALT-Tab has about a 75% chance of crashing Spellforce 3 for me. So that doesn't help... And clicking does nothing.

This long period of waiting happens on my primary desktop (r7 1800x & 1080ti) and my laptop (I7 6700 & 980m)
(Both systems full specs on my profile)

It is only cleaning up the memory, the rest of the specs have nothing to do with it, nor can they speed it up. Sure not a good nor a fast way and they could make it better. But it is actually about "unloading" and not about loading at that point. I did only experience this behaviour, when i did NOT use "smart" as a cache option. If you changed the assets caching setting in the options, try setting it back to "smart".
Spellforce 3 was the first game I'd purchased once I got a new gaming laptop a month ago. Imagine my surprise when the first load up took longer than I had expected. Lowering settings has helped, so it's a possible 'fix.' The load ups after the first one seem to reach 100% faster from my observation.

Well, for a few minutes it's not even doing that. Memory usage is unchanged... In till the game moves past the 0% spot... The cache options make NO difference in the long delay before loading for me... What I do see is different with that option is the total load time After the 0% cleaning up... Always = 3-6 second time; smart = 5-8 second time; the lowest setting is about 10-15 seconds.

An example of this delay, I repeatedly Entered the Nexus core 10 times in a row:

1- 1 min 32 sec
2- 2 min 30 sec
3- 2 min 15 sec
4- 1 min 17 sec
5- 8 sec
6- 3 min 3 sec
7- 51 sec
8- 2 min 6 sec
9- 6 sec
10- 2 min 48 sec

Times are from the point I clicked the box to enter till it showed press space to enter...
So if it's supposed to be doing something, why the major inconsistencies in load times? Why does no monitoring SW I have show any activity for the CPU, GPU, RAM, or HDD?

Just turn asset caching to always.

Asset caching does not help, it still does it on "cleaning up". Asset chacing helps once it loads the map but not on cleaning up...

That it the only Game i ever had that has this problem....

And it is still there.. every time i load i can go for a koffee. That ist so damn annoying.......

there is no different if a put it on smart or ever.. when it stands on ever it should not cleaning anyway ... this must be a bug and cant be normal...

If i alt-tab out the game wakes back up in about 10-15 seconds Im not sure why this is happening myself
