40 fps are pretty good and fine to play with, play arround with the graphic options a bit and see which option gives you the most boost. Maybe turn down shadows a bit.
In other games with "better" graphics its no problem to get 60 fps ( Battlefield, GTA V , stuff like that ) . So im a bit confused about this engine here....
I am even able to play it on my laptop with only a GT 635, and not even on low settings.
Thats just a dream so far. But there will be optimization for sure.
6850K, 1080 Ti.
Game is ~40FPS at 2560x1080 (yes it supports ultrawide) and only gets worse with more stuff on screen.
No option affects framerate other than completely turning off shadows and reflections, which are presumably CPU bound options. Removing shadows alone makes the game look terrible, adding reflections to that just makes it even worse. The highest FPS I can seem to get is 54 at game start. (Too many draw calls?)
I do hope the game gets optimized for release, because playing at this sluggish framerate is not enjoyable, at all.
FWIW, the game is only using 10-16% of my CPU. It's good that it is multi-core aware, but so much more needs to be done.
Enjoyed the old Spellforce games, so I'll be checking back later (provided I still have beta access) for performance/polish improvements as it nears release.
