As for someone who loved TG2 is this game worth it?
Has the game been patched and improved enough to fill that TG2 itch I have been having for years? I have been following the game for a long time but stopped looking at the patch notes a year ago so I am not sure what has been done lately in terms of development

Personally, as a fan of both TG: Europe 1400 and TG2, I think this game finally holds up as a valid sequel. Right, the game still have ways to go but I've had a blast playing with a friend so far. There are thing I wish they'd implement into the game, like the possibility to look inside your buisnesses like in the other two, for flavor, but it won't happen as it doesn't fill a practical purpose. I usually found it so relaxing watching my peeps work all day long, but alas... Those days are long gone.

But I think it's worth it!

I think so, especially with friends. It's fun in SP but you can get up to some real neat stuff with some buds. All of the businesses are fun, and you can micro as much as you want or just let the AI figure it out which seems to be decently effective. I usually have one or two shops I micro and buy a bunch of other ones to corner the market that I let act autonomously as long as they are profitable.

Government is cool. More useful if you are criminally minded because you can alter a lot of the laws. Get to vote on issues and act as an elector for lower offices.

Other dynasty AI seems to go from being super competent to kind of dumb, but they all function well enough it's fine and provides a nice challenge politically at least.

The production chains are satisfying if you want to go down that route as opposed to just buying the raw materials for your business. You usually need multiple buildings of different types to feed into end game buildings, but you can spec into multiple professions.

No it’s not worth it. I love the guild 2 ren. But the guild 3 when I played it didn’t allow you to look in most buildings and just overall wasn’t nearly as fun.

Have they fixed trading routes and that yet?

Still i cant get into the game even with all the fixes the immersion is gone. It was entertaining to watch in TG2.

the progress over the past year has really made a difference. Currently (feb 2021) its inline with The Guild 2 in my opinion. I play single player and enjoy it. There are some differences that may be +/-, the production is slightly different for one as well as other mechanics. Slightly different, just takes a little figuring out. I'm currently trying to figure out how to increase [reputation?] as its used like a currency to advance titles and the only way i've figured it out to is "brag about my accomplishments"

Simply answer; no unfortunately not.

No, it has nothing to do with the previous games. This one is pretty shallow, it's all about clicks on a map. It lost the full immersion the previous games had. a few people still think that interiors are not important, well they are completely wrong, the interiors made the previous games fun. We play games to have fun, this is not an excel spread sheet so not everything has to have a purpose in a game, somethings there to just enrich the game, it's called art!

these devs really deserve mad respect for all that they'd done. I feel like if they handled the project from the get-go then this would've been a SIGNIFICANTLY better game. As it is, they have done an incredible job fixing the pile of mess this game started out as
I appreciate the dev's work in updating and polishing the game, but I still have much more fun playing TG2 Ren than playing this.
