It's definitely not a finished game, there seems to be quite a bit more polish needed, but what is in the game is fun. For 20 bucks I've gotten about 20hrs of entertainment so far, I think it's worth it.

I haven't checked up on this game for a while because it seems all the recent updates have only been minor bug fixes instead of the big changes that it needs, but I would say that Guild 2 is still the better choice, by far. The only advantage Guild 3 has over 2 is better graphics, and even that is debatable as the buildings still don't even have interiors like 2 did. I have been playing the Guild series since part 1, and consider Guild 2 to be one of the best games ever made. Too bad they destroyed the franchise with this garbage. Over 2 years and still in EA status, what a joke.

and i wouldnt hold my breath on that to be honest. tyleet confirmed that there are no plans to implement interiors like in the previous guild games.

"hi royalrumble, it has been already mentioned in various forum thread/posts and interviews that there are no plans to implement interiors in guild 3 like you know from guild 2. instead there will be more working animations on the exterior of a building like a worker working at an anvil infront of the artisan/craftmans hut."

This game is not worth $20. the Guild 2 is definitely much better than this game. they don't even have interiors, bank and church businesses in this game. the guild 3 gets pretty boring in 15 min. I'd recommend you to play guild 2 renaissance.

Guild 2: Renaissance with Fajeth's Mod installed is one of my favorite games of all time, and I've been playing electronic games since I discovered my first Pong machine back in 1975. That said, Guild 3 is now stable and playable, though it has yet to offer the depth of Guild 2.

I really don't see why you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the game so far. I've only got 7 hours so far but thus far it's really solid, at the very least on Guild 2's level, if not better. The only real complaints I have is the lack of an autosave feature, some weird behaviors from the AI, and some lackluster UI (confusing at first, not a lot of explanations, etc.)

other than that, it's been great so far.
Most likely the Guild 2. They stripped too much content/features from The Guild 3 that made the Guild 2 great. And last time I tried this game it was the buggiest piece of sh.it I've ever played. I doubt it has changed much.

I recently realized what is my problem with Guild 3 as compared to Guild 2. Assuming that G3 even be fully polished etc someday, it has a totally different vibe than G2 to it. It feels more like Total War or Crusader Kings whatever. Your characters are simply a resource, you tell your wife to produce 8 kids and tell those 8 kids to produce 8 kids each. You will never care about them as characters, there is no meaningful way to improve them via perks or university. You will just fill all city council spots with them and call it a day.

G2 was way more of an RPG game. The interiors, the level of details to votes, trials and similar things, the perks. Investing in your character was really rewarding and losing a high level character was a biggie. Also, the world felt small and intimate, even with several cities on the map. Every single business or office were more meaningful.

So to me, G3 will never be as immersive and joyful experience. Even if the map and buildings are beautiful and despite the amount of stuff on the map it somehow manages to run smoothly than G2 this days.

Also, killing your opponent dynasties is so easy in G3. They have to be left with no head alive and no adult heir, or go bankrupt, or lose a residence. Now pick your poison - you marry their heirs and kill the head, you occupy the whole council chamber that expropriates stuff and deprive ALL dynasties off their residences or you just wait until stupid AI goes bankrupt all by itself.

This, exactly. What we all really wanted was G2 but with better graphics, more immersion, more ways to develop your character and dynasty, etc. Instead we got something totally different, we got a boring and monotonous "Sim City" type of game that revolves around placing buildings, automating workers, and then repeating that over and over again, just to generate money and nothing to really do with it. Your character, family, and any immersion is all just an afterthought. It isn't the Guild 2 and never will be.

Thank you guys you convinced me to give this obvious travesty hard pass.
Then again im not surprised since its Nordic game, with all IPs they got their hands on they proved they dont have a clue what to do nor do they have any attachement/understanding of older titles and their remakes/sequels show little to no respect and knowledge what made their predecessors popular.

I bought the first The Guild at target back when it came out... it was a super buggy barely working POS that had so much promise.

I bought The Guild 2 when it came out... it was a super buggy barely working POS that had so much promise... Still even have the physical release box too.

I forgot The Guild 3 was a thing.

At the moment, I still lean towards TG2. It still has some flaws but for me they are minimal and I know how to work around them.
The developers have made significant strides since early access, but it still has a ways to go, and not just some polishing. There still seems to be content missing as well.
