Anyone have any tips on how to gain influence points?

There are multiple actions that can be taken to get influence points:

1. Boast exploits (10-50 influence)
2. Donate to the church (100-1k influence)
3. Bribe officeholder (1-2k influence)
4. Grease the wheel (3-5k influence)
5. Obtain and hold a office slot for 1 year/round (100-1k influence)
6. Build a new build a new building (10-50 influence)

There is a romance option that grants you a bit of influence but it's on par with "Boast exploits"

Also there's the 'send child to court' option which gains 6,400 if I recall, but I think it costs 64,000 to do and can't be for an heir.

thanks, I've been struggling there as well. Just running around town every few days boasting, lol

Just set a queue for boasting at your family house, recruit the family members :) It might not get you the most, but it works without active involvement, so good for those family members that you don't pay much attention to.
