Where do babies come from?
When a mommy and a daddy love each other very much they get...
Step 1: a house.
Step 2: a citizenship title (because everyone knows peasants didn't reproduce)
Step 3: find a lover
Step 4: get married to lover
Step 5: ???

I got the husband and wife in the same house at the same time. How do I teach them about the birds and the bees? Nothing is happening...

Edit: Never mind. My wife just had a boy. Babies apparently just 'pop up' randomly even if the spouses never meet. Lame!

you need to craft a bird and they deliver. just like in real life. as my parents told me 32 years ago (yeah i am still single seeing i love gaming)

Jurjen yes another immersion killer, they just pop up. The old game required a little more input from you. ;-) Hopefully this being only version .18 really means it's only .18 of the final game!

If that help here is what is in the tutorial script :

"Besides mortality, age affects the ability to procreate, but age has no physical effect on the character, i.e. vision, productivity, etc.."

"When you acquire a spouse, children will inevitably appear, with the likelihood increasing by 5% every month. The child is born after the usual 9 months, and then ages normally like the other characters."

And if you wonder how your wife can make a baby when you never leave your job, the game give an answer too :

"During a walk through the city you see a man whistling merrily as he knocks on a door and calls out: >Open, my dear wife, for I am home again<. As the man enters the house, a window on the first floor opens and a half-naked man with a bundle of clothes under his arm hurriedly climbs out..."

I don't like what you are insinuating, sir. The baby looks just like me. Look, two arms, one leg and a spare. Just like his dad! :)

Having a citizen title to marry and have children is confusing at best, and that automatic child generation is lazy.
Two things that have been added to be "more accessible to new players", I think.

just wait for the baby to be born.

you may send your wife/husband back home.

on my current savegame, they don't stop 'producing' babys. it's ridiculous. every hour another baby is born.....
