Telling him to buy a new computer just to play a game in pre alpha state?

Just wait for optmizations, I think your pc meets the requirements...

Pre-alpha games are ALWAYS laggy, because development of features is prioritised over optimisation. When all the features are in, then they begin to optimise the game.

Sorry but your video card can barely be considered suitable for gaming. There are 5 year old *mobile* GPUs that perform better than the 730.

Your CPU will be ok. Not great, but ok. Just get yourself a decent video card. Spend $250 plus and you should be good to go.

Geforce GTX780 on amazon for at and/or around $200 - just under $300.
i'm nobody to listen to but, i'm pretty sure the GTX780 is the OG gaming card and is still a very good gaming card.
maybe the folks on here would say different but, i've been more than happy with mine for 3 or more years now and i (sortta) paid way more than $200 - $300 for mine back then.

The 780 would be a very decent upgrade.
