This games basis sounds more like a multiplayer
The basis is all there I'd be happier to purchase this if it were 9 people on a server unarmed being forced to do a large and unique variety of puzzles.

An interesting idea, but would have to be a game in its own rights. I don't think you've played the Zero Escape series, you'd kind of understand why your idea wouldn't work if you had.

Can't say I have it peaked my interest until the animu cliche's started to go insane.

Uhhhh. No cutesy anime effects are used here.

More so character design it's a pet peve of mine that's always gotten to me more than anything.

The character designs in this series aren't generic in any way; the only similarity they have with "anime" is the fact that they are japanese at all.

I'm surprised at how much I like this game. I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. I've never played any of the others.

I honestly had a similar thought of what the game would be like (and that would also be a great game... action/RPG multiplayer where you had to selectively and collectively decide who was killed on your own team sounds AWESOME), but this is more RPG/story game.

I don't know how old you are, but if you ever read the "Choose your own adventure" books as a kid, this is reminiscient of that. Gameplay-wise, the closest I can think of is L.A. Noire. But while that one gave you options to randomize your encounters, the encounters themselves were pretty linear. This one is more like a tree. You start at one place, and can continually run into choices that dictate the outcome. And you don't have to replay it to make the other choice. You save every branch point and can go back and see the other.

You have 2 hours of gameplay to get a refund. I say give it a shot. It's not what I expected, but I definitely don't regret the buy...
