Can't say I have it peaked my interest until the animu cliche's started to go insane.
More so character design it's a pet peve of mine that's always gotten to me more than anything.
I honestly had a similar thought of what the game would be like (and that would also be a great game... action/RPG multiplayer where you had to selectively and collectively decide who was killed on your own team sounds AWESOME), but this is more RPG/story game.
I don't know how old you are, but if you ever read the "Choose your own adventure" books as a kid, this is reminiscient of that. Gameplay-wise, the closest I can think of is L.A. Noire. But while that one gave you options to randomize your encounters, the encounters themselves were pretty linear. This one is more like a tree. You start at one place, and can continually run into choices that dictate the outcome. And you don't have to replay it to make the other choice. You save every branch point and can go back and see the other.
You have 2 hours of gameplay to get a refund. I say give it a shot. It's not what I expected, but I definitely don't regret the buy...
