Have you played Tekken? Think of that but with a simpler control scheme (Just punch, kick and block) and no fancy super moves.

There's a good old fashioned Arcade mode, and a training mode that covers the more complex stuff if you ever feel the need to try it out. I'm sure you'll be able to pick it up no problem.
fighting games honestly are for anyone .. Offline preps you for online.
Online is not for everyone..

Think of the end-game like this.
Offline is School of beating the AI on Easiest-Hardest.
Think of it like elementary school (easy difficulty ladder), middle school (middle difficulty ladder), high school (hard difficulty ladder), and college (hardest difficulty ladder), and work (online ranked modes), retirement (casual online modes).

If you want a in depth crash course

VF is more fun for a casual gamer because juggles are short compared to Tekken.
But you 'll need some basics for to enjoy it (takedown side step and so others one like explained in the video.) Also there's a little more variety in Vf unless you play Lei or Yoshimitsu in TK
Tekken is more accessible but with some basics you 'll have more fun with VF

To be honest, I recommend trying to find some way to demo the game to see if it's for you. This game won't be for everyone especially for casuals. It's a lot harder IMO than other 3d fighters when it comes to input commands, frames, and timing. A lot of times you have to pull off what may seem like an overly difficult input just to do a simple-looking move or combo. Of course there are other factors such as you won't find any flash or visual excitement here and the game plays more slower and clunkier than other fighters. Think of it as pure fighting sim. On the positive side, button-mashing won't get you anywhere unlike other fighters. You need to actually learn how to play properly if you want some success.

Also, it's Virtua Fighter not Virtual Fighter lol.

What are your expectations though? I don't think this will have a story mode as the Quest mode wasn't in the PS4 version. It does have Arcade and a solid training mode for offline play.

Mashing won't get you far (especially online) and there are no autocombos like most recent fighting games. However, there are beginner-friendly characters like Goh, Pai Chan, and Taka Arashi that will help you learn the game. Jacky Bryant and Lau chan are also kinda beginner-friendly!

Please don't listen to players who say it's like Tekken you are going to have a bad time Go into Virtua Fighter like it's a martial arts game Virtua Fighter can be hard for a new comer but it's rules are easier to pick up Virtua Fighter unlike Tekken just makes sense it's also a much faster game especially when you take into account rings outs

You do need to invest your times for
  • Learning the mechanics of the game (play the tutorial)
  • Stick to 1 character (Learn the commands list)
  • Go to training mode, then practice in the arcade mode, look how the pros play on youtube

Special notes
  • You'll never find the fun if you just blindly play this game
  • Try to find one character that you find interesting, and stick with that character until you understand the mechanics and can do many basic moves regularly
  • Avoid characters that have many stances, can be confusing for beginner that still also learning the mechanics

Buy the game, try it for less than 2 hours, then you decide if you want to keep it or refund it.
I haven't play a VF game since 4 back on the ps2, I'm excited to get back in and get my butt kicked.
