Why THOSE changes SEGA????
For those who never played VF5 in the arcades or on consoles, you are fine with VFR. BUT if you played the first VF5 from 2006 like me, you notice some very importent downgrades!

As VF5 Final Shodown came out in 2010, SEGA changed the lighting a bit and REMOVED the water from Eileen's stage, the Rain from Jacky's Stage and Mountains from Pai's, why?

Then 2012 came VF5 Ultimate Shodown as a Remaster Version on the "Dragon Engine", if you compare Final and Ultimate Shodown you notice some things, the lighting looks for my opinion much worser. The faces, well some also look bad.

But the worst thing is, they downgraded the stages and details and changed the floor textures, why? Also where are the reflections gone? Is the Dragon Engine overwhelmed with reflections? Also the music has changed in VF5 Ultimate, why again.

I see none of that fluff as important for VF tbh

Agreed, the '06 release still looks miles better, I also really dislike the Battle UI.

Jep, correction here, they changed lighting and downgraded Eileen's, Jacky's and Pai's stage already in the first update named "Virtua Fighter 5 R", which was available only in the japanese arcades in 2008...

You can actually select the original soundtrack under settings. A lot of the stage changes occurred in 2008 update named R. Eileen's stage was likely changed to be more thematically unified. Jacky's stage change was to emphasize change. Pai's stage was similar. The worst changes to me were Lei Fei's mountain training ground being changed into a dumb raft with walls and Lion's castle being cut off similarly. Sucks to be honest but it is what it is. The animations and lighting got a major upgrade in exchange so it was worth it.

Pros Final Showdown: Better lighting, more colorful, better detailed stages (sadly they removed Pai's "Stone Forest" stage, Eileens water and the rain in Jacky's stage in VF5R completely), better and more reflections.
Pros Ultimate Showdown: higher resolution in general, high res textures, more realistic looking character models (well some still look weird).
For me the original VF5 on XBox 360 is the best one!

VF5 vanilla (2006) does indeed look far superior from an art style perspective. The lighting, colors, contrast still to this day look incredible. All they had to do was upgrade the textured polygons and resolution but VFUS changed the colors lighting etc in a way that makes it look sterile washed out and flat.

I’m hoping for a mod that can add in the classic arcade SEGA lighting and the strong deep shadows and balanced punchy colors of the vanilla version

Probably a bit optimistic. The issue is more complex than just like altering hue/saruration, contrast etc and would require more hand done mods as that’s what made the original so good looking is the hand done attention to detail

Sadly there is no more bloom or reflections in US, the new lighting looks almost the same in every stage and so the stages look kind of flat. The new Reshade 6.3.3 has a tons of filters including different bloom fx, bump mapping etc, but it can't bring back the downgraded stages :(.
