Oh absolutely not. Crossplay takes a lot of time, effort, and money to work, and I don't see SEGA doing that for a re-release that's mostly supposed to just gauge interest in a new Virtua Fighter. Oh, and also to introduce the PC crowd to the series through something other than a game so old it would be driving its kids to school by now (Virtua Fighter 2), or some arcade cabinets in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series which 95% of players would ignore.

Believe me, I'd love for there to be crossplay too, but it's just not happening.

To do so they probably need to build an alternative version of VF.Net for commercial use.
Which would be great tbh also to prepare wide infrastructure to VF6.

They already have all this thing running on the arcade version so let's wait and see.

No crossplay has the potential to split the playerbase on PS and that we end up with two player bases that all have individual numbers lower than what's currently on console. Then there's the whole problem with online tournaments: what version do they pick for competition? Without crossplay you gimp your potential of participants. Crossplay is a must if this game wants to have a chance.

This is a Steam exclusive, nothing to crossplay with. The PlayStation 4 version is getting a balance update but not a netcode update.

Virtua Fighter 6 when it does happen will probably be on everything (except Nintendo consoles, I guess) and have crossplay.

there won't be any crossplay, we are blessed enough to have rollback + balance update on a RERELASE for the preparation of VF6. i would manage my expectation. this is a small game to get some hype coming for the return of the series.

Almost confirmed, NOPE
the fact that there is no cross play just blows man. theres only like 600 people on the daily that are on steam. meaning youre either playing the same people or not finding matches. cross play would fix these issues. there just needs to be more people playing to have an enjoyable experience.

Could be possible if they realease the steam version of VF5 Revo (even if it based on PS4 version) on PS5 and XSX since they have a stronger CPU for rollback and then adding crossplay but it's already too late so VF6 is worth the wait.

Im happy your back. That ban was uncalled for
If they don't implement it, they're wasting a golden opportunity for testing stuff to make the VF next perfect. But it's Sega we're talking about, it would be a classic sega move if they barely touch the game again. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Unlike other games made for lenient inputs and moves with startup frames on two-digits, VF5 requires people playing closer to each other, and crossplay would make it easier. As it is now, the game have some player pools, and when people try to play with opponents on another hemisphere the experience leave a bad taste and bad reputation for the netcode, which is actually good.
Sega should have added crossplay with this version of the game. They honestly had more than enough time and resources to do so. The 90% of the items in Final Showdown should have been added as well. It also would have been nice to get the single player content from vanilla VF5 from PS3/X360 added to make the price worthwhile.

It's a shame that the 30th anniversary costume is the S Costume from Final Showdown, and you can't even customize it like you can in that version. It should have been an entirely new outfit, or maybe even a RGG version of the VF3 costumes. How many people wanted a Jukebox mode in Virtua Fighter, where we can mix and match different songs from all VFs?

Honestly, if you want anything from Sega, your best bet is to ping the crap out of them on Twitter/X, and other socials, and get other people to retweet/repost those everywhere. The community as a whole need to be extremely vocal to Sega, otherwise nothing is going to happen; or if it does happen, it's going to be an extremely long time before its implemented, and yet again Sega will miss its golden window of opportunity because people will slowly stop playing the game. We need to stop kid gloving Sega and giving them a pass just because we want VF to return. This version is a sign of things to come imo, but not in a good way. I WANT to be proven wrong.
Releasing VF5REVO on GamePass might have a chance.🫠
