Will playing Bo3 in Steam Offline Mode keep me safe or is it proper cooked?

I would say yes to being safe just because you're running the game offline. To an extent I find this a bit overblown because this didn't just start now as the game was plagued with similar news for the past couple years. I also always selected solo zombies in the menu or recently selected "offline" because my internet was crapping the other day and I haven't noticed anything strange. People are apparently getting accounts hacked into like social media and banking. An easy fix to that is not to let your browser stay signed in to your accounts. I tell my browser to clear all cookies and data when it closes and not to remember logins and payment history and i log out whenever I am finished with an account and dont stay signed in to any account while playing a game. This is general internet advice rather than advice for playing this game.

The patch is easy to install so maybe if you want to feel like you know you did everything to minimize your risk I would say go for it
