Says to open all those ports. I just opened all those ports this morning and was able to play with my friends after not being able to.
I used UDP MYSELF. and I think anyone trying to do this needs to read every step before saying it didnt work.
OK I just went to the website you suggested.
It said PC TCP 3074, 27014-27050 and UDP 3478, 4379-4380, 27000-27031, 27036
Honestly I would have been confused if I tried that as when I was in my router I only saw 4 lines to fill in, 1 which device thats connected 2 internal port 3 external port 4 TCP or UDP or BOTH. and the in game network menu only said forword 27014.
Now I see others saying that they were able to join on saturday with out doing any thing, now this can make a person like me wonder if what i did after a week of not being able to play actually worked, but my nat is now open for the first time ever so thats a plus.
My main issue is that my router doesn't support forwarding more than 16 ports, and also doesn't support forwarding ranges of ports. I'm quite afraid that the fix for me is to buy a new router.
I decided to forward the ports standing for themselves, as well as the first and last port of the ranges. I also enabled uPNP, but that made no changes.
Gonna try to play with someone again in a few days perhaps, and just soak up as much information as I can in the meantime. Might also give my provider a call to see if I can set up the router differently.
Also to anyone not understanding how to log into your router you need to know your IP's Default Gateway. You find this by opening your command prompt and typing "ipconfig", then it should spit out a bunch of IP adresses. In bumishere's case his IP was 192.168.1.1, but the first 3 numbers can be different, in my case the third number wasn't 1. The important part is that the LAST number will very likely be 1.
Once you have that, you put the IP in your browser and hit enter, and you'll need your routers password to log in. It's usually printed on your router label, but it's usually something like "1234" or "admin". Mine was 1234.
My main issue is that I'm not sure what the internal LAN is supposed to be. Last time I tried FTP, HTTP, DNS and TCP, but I've yet to try the ports on activisions list. I've set it up as 27017/27017 now, but I haven't tried it yet. NAT was open no matter what the internal LAN was set as.
Thank you SHOCKWAFFLE for adding to this post with great info, My goal in this post was to try to share my struggles on getting this game to work again. I hope others share too good info that might help others..
Just a quick back story on me that shows my love for online gaming.
I have played FPS games with the same friend every night (ususlly 2 hours from 7 to 9 pm est) since the late 90s. Im 63 and my friend is 68 ya smile at that. we started with my most favorite game DUKE NUKEM 3D, and that was dial up modem to modem direct connection. moved on to all the quake versions and many more games inbetween. Oh ya we still play DUKE 3D because someone who loved the game too was able to port it for todays gaming via STEAM and the megaton edition which now is still working but no longer available on steam but it still works and just like bo3 has a work shop with user made maps.. the point is here, Im making this original post only to share what it took for me to get this game which is the best bang for the buck working when a problem stops it, this game is only tops for PC players who love the zombie play and this is because of all those who took the time to make great workshop maps and those on YOUTUBE like YOUALLWAYSWIN who share game play on the user made maps... I hope this post continues to have replies that are trying to help those who need help. PS... Im reading other posts of others who have same original issue LOBBY NOT JOINABLE and its sad to see what many say. MY point is ...you dont need a VPN or a secondary program or allmost all of what others are saying to get this game working... I do see there is allways a chance that a windows update or a update to ones internet router can change what you were use too and has effected the game.. every one having a problem needs to try what honest helpers are saying and do not fall for the secondary program you need to install bullcrap. Thats my story and Im sticking to it..
While I don't think it's old enough to "REQUIRE" third party tools, they absolutely help. The menu in BO3 is borderline unusable without the t7 patch for instance, and multiplayer is downright risking your personal information without it. However, I do believe this can be fixed by fiddling with ports and network, as long as you understand what you're doing.
Not that anybody asked or cared, but I work in IT and I have an education within, so this isn't strange to me. What is strange is how BO3 just refuses to use the policies I've applied to it. And I'm not the only one. This game really is an enigma of code as far as network solutions go
