Not really, if Activision wants Cod haters to REALLY embrace Call of Duty, then they'd release Call of Duty: Online to North America. It's only currently available in China. CoD: Online has sooo many game modes, customization options, AND a plethora of maps where you DON'T need to purchase sh!tty DLC map packs for. And, I can guarantee you, the player population WILL skyrocket to 20,000+ if it's released on Steam.
CSGO is old and boring. Uses old DX9 graphics library and is like playing on a PS1. I have a 2560x1600 monitor that runs 144 MHz. CSGO looks like absolute junk on my monitor.
It also has no storyline/campaign which is a great incentive to people with high-end monitors and computers. Plus you get to immerse yourself in the lore and transition of the characters. The single player games are really fun.
Another thing, COD is a twitch arena style FPS and that is fun for A LOT OF PEOPLE! I can appreciate skill and competition, but MOST gamers do not want to deal with a bunch of an@l, obsessive nutbags harping on them about skill and noob weapons. COD is my game of choice when playing solo and I want to just relax and shoot...get in to quick action. I play BF to enjoy tactics and strategy with my friends.
So please do not feel sorry for anyone.
The storyline/campaign isn't THAT great of an incentive to people as you think. If that was true, then they'd implement an EXCELLENT storyline that's longer than 10 hours. The games are completely focused on multiplayer (this is where CS:GO excels, people DON'T care about the graphics, hence why it reaches 500,000 players daily). Even the game trailers for Black Ops 1 and 2 are geared mainly towards multiplayer (hence why they hired so many celebrities for the trailers). And also, CS:GO hosts MANY competitions that have HUGE prize pools ($250,000 competitions).
I agree that CoD CAN be fun, BUT Activision NEEDS a central Call of Duty game where they can gather all of the CoD fans, then make millions of dollars (like Call of Duty: Online where it's currently available only in China). I'm currently looking at the past CoD games on Steam and the player populations only have like 500-1000 people playing them).
You do realsie that CS GO players spend way more than $70 on skins and cases over the course of there game lifetime right? very silly comparison you used there brah, very silly.
Read some of my other posts; Activision can do the same thing AND make more money with CoD: Online. If 500,000+ people are willing to spend money on skins, then hardcore CoD fans would do the same thing in a central CoD MMOFPS game (Like Call of Duty: Online).
No,Team Fortress 2 and CS GO are the only steam games where skins and stuff make the game popular, would not work for any non valve game.
Steam gamers would not spend money on Call of Duty Online
Millions of people around the world have played Call of Duty games; CoD is famous worldwide. Millions of people have purchased the extraneous DLC packs for the Cod games (this is why Activision keeps milking the CoD franchise). CoD is a famous brand, AND it'll make millions of dollars IF CoD: Online comes to North America. They can implement more than skins: item packs, weapon packs, character packs, etc. This will only work if it's in a centralized online MMOFPS game.
No just no,Asian gamers are used to having microtransactions in there games,Call of Duty online would not work in this market under any circumstances.
Acitvision's previous data on sales say otherwise regarding microtransactions (or DLC).
DLC lobbies in COD games are always a ghost town so i dunno what you're talking about
I don't know what it's like for the console ports (since this is where most of the DLC sales are coming from), but this is exactly why I'm arguing that CoD needs a central CoD MMOFPS game. On the PC, many people won't play it because there are better and cheap alternatives (like CS:GO).
