EDIT: Adding addition info
Call of Duty: Black Ops III (2015) A yet-unnamed next-generation engine (Updated IW 4.0)
http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/IW_Engine
Was it used in other COD games? Is it heavier that other engines like COD AW engine and COD Ghosts engine?
Call of Duty 2 (2005) - IW 2.0
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007) IW 3.0
Call of Duty: World at War (2008) - IW 3.0 (Modified)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) - IW 4.0
Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) - IW 3.0 (Heavily Modified)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) - MW3 engine (Modified IW 4.0)
Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012) - Black Ops II engine (Heavily Modified IW 3.0)
Call of Duty: Ghosts (2013) - Updated IW 4.0
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (2014) - IW 5.0
If the pattern continues the Black Ops 3 Engine will be called IW Engine 6.0
Because I really wanted to know what engine COD BO3 was using.
I just wanted to know XD!
MW3's engine was unofficially IW 5.0. Ghosts' was IW 6.0, and AW's is a modified/rebuilt IW 5.0. Treyarch's version of the IW engine has no specific numbering, since they do their own engine upgrades that differ from IW's.
And to answer OP's question, Black Ops III will be using a heavily modified version of the Black Ops II engine.
I'm not saying your wrong... I'm just saying that my info was not made up. It was all gathered from the sources I listed in my first comment on in this discussion. http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/IW_Engine
