They have higher drop chance that they claim, I get legendaries and rares all the time.

dupes are kind of why rare crates are better.....you're pretty likely to get common dupes after a certain point, since you'll basically have all of the commons. so I'd rather have the rare's first, then later worry about common. Means I get the unique stuff first before other people do. I've only opened rare's, and I've gotten common dupes already.
See, it's not just the drop rate that makes these things 'rare' or 'common', it's which crate people choose too. So the less people choose rare crates, the more rare rare's are.
If someone opens 20 common crates, gets 5 rares, that's a 1 in 4 chance, which is like paying 40 crypto's for a rare....of course you get a lot more commons though, but eventually you'll just have mostly dupes once you open enough crates.
I've even gotten dupes of rares too though, albeit for different weapons. for example, I got violet camo for both the shotgun and knife.
