Not sure how to fix it yet but it's happening to my friends in Ventrillo as well.

I think it's just a bug we'll have to wait for a fix. I'll keep looking though.

Go to options -> chat -> turn up your voice record volume. Even if you don't use in game voice, it still modifies your external voice recording, for some stupid reason.

For me when I launch the game my mic volume goes up to 100 and makes some weird sound that is incredibly loud then goes down to 50 so no one can hear me. Doing what you said fixes it from going down to 50 so it goes to what it normally is but it still goes up to 100 any ideas?

No its not a bug, the game will take exclusive control of your mic volume and raise it to 100% in windows..

Oliverh28 it may be in your recording devices setting. If you need to change it go to your task bar, right click the Volume Icon and go to recording devices. Then go to your mic and then to properties. Then go to the advanced tab. Un-check everything under the Exclusive mode and hit apply. Your problem should be fixed

Yeah I have everything under exclusive mode unchecked but some games still ♥♥♥♥ up my mic I've just learned to live with it at this point. Some games let you change the recording volume in game and that might fix it but that doesn't work for all games.

this is happening to me and i have been digging deep into this for about 2 weeks, I'm adding a couple of you to see If i can have a discussion about this because this is really annoying and it only seems to happen with steam games
COMPLETE FIX FOR MIC BOOSTING WHEN LAUNCHING BO2 - CHANGE YOUR VOICE CHAT VOLUME RECORD TO WHATEVER VOLUME YOUR DESKTOP MICROPHONE SHOULD BE AT. THIS WILL MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T OVERRUN THE DESKTOP AUDIO!
