For black ops 3 do i need to download the campaign first to play the multiplayer

No, look into your library, go to Black Ops 3 when you are downloading the game. There should be some checks (for installing campaign, mp, zombies und eventually nuketown dlc). Just uncheck campaign and probably zombies. You only need to download ~24gb now

i did see it for the Pre-load but you can on relese day, but its only 47gb

just look in the right pain under DLC there are 4 check boxes
