Unable to Download game, Not enough disk space
No one has been able to help me with this. I have 450 GB's free on my external hardrive and 40GB's free on my SSD. The game is only a 47 ish download according to my friends and requires 60 GB's according to the store page. Despite this, I am unable to install the game to my external hardrive which has more than enough memory for the game. I have tried restarting, making a a new folder for the game to download to (same thing happens), and clearing enough space to install on SSD( not possible and likely has same result). I am currently defragging my external hardrive as I have heard this may help. Any ideas are welcome

(besides deleting system 32)

Thank you:steamhappy:

What is the error message you get when the installation fails ?

I am trying to say that I want to download the game to my external hardrive. I only have 120 GB's of SSD and over half of it is taken up by I dont know what. What I'm saying is that SSD isnt an option.

I think steam downloads to windows drive, and then it installs to steam directory. I may be wrong tho. So basically it tries to download 47 gb to the 40 gb of free space you have. Solution: uncheck some of the DLCs (like multiplayer or zombies or single player), and only install one or two. It will let it happen, and then, if you need the other parts, you just check them again, and voila. Game downloaded.

But you could also check options in steam, maybe you can find this option there.

Also you could download it from elsewhere, install it, and tell steam it's already installed.

I have another steam folder in my external hardrive so it shouldn't be installing to the SSD. I've even tried that but it rejects me right off the bat with not enough memory (Which is true).

Download and install isn't the same thing. Read my post again. Or read the other one. Try the options I gave you, and come back and tell us if it worked or not.

Sorry if I mislead you with the title, I am unable to even really begin downloading the game. I get about halfway through the pre-allocating phase before I get the error message

No, I got you. But you don't really understand what I said. You know, steam doesn't download to installation folder. It downloads to a temp folder, usually located on C:. But why the ♥♥♥♥ does it matter? You don't understand it. Ok. Did you try even one thing I told you? Obviously not. Just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ try them, don't be retarded. At least one of those will work. And after you tried them, tell us if what worked, what not.

What does that tells you ?

the game needs 2 times the space for it to run properly and on top of that it's absolutely necessary for steam to have further space to suitably append cash files.

Also download CCleaner and run it. It'll get rid of most unnecessary files on your SSD, you'll get enought free space.

Alright sorry I didnt quite understand what you were saying. I am trying the methods you have prescribed right now. Didn't know about files moving through a temp in C:
