The BO3 beta used the same lobby system we've seen in all CoD games in MW2 and later games. What we need are community-run servers that private groups manage and moderate. THAT's what killed CoD on PC for many clans. The fact that we have to join hacker-infested unmoderated lobbies is a disgrace to PC gaming.
However, in my experience it does more harm than good later in a games life. If I try to find a TDM match in BF3 (North America), I'll have a fairly disappointing list of results:

I'll take a healthy map rotation over modified rulesets any day of the week.
There are little kid admins who kick when they lose.
Stupid rules
1 map rotation only.
I prefer the lobby and 3A hosted Dedicated Servers all day
What I meant was we should be able to have dedicated servers. NOT completely take your console lobby system away.
I personally prefer private servers. You can have fun mods like user-made maps, game modes, weapons, etc. without effecting your "official" online account.
It also helps to keep all of the d-bag hackers away from my games.
This is PC people. Not console. And as PC gamers, with our machines, we shouldn't HAVE to run with only one thing. PC gaming is about bringing control to the users to make a long-lasting, enjoyable experience.
Have you seen MW2, MW3, Ghosts, BO2, AW lately? NOBODY plays the game modes I like. There are a maximum of like 10k on the best of weekends across ALL of those titles.
CoD 4, BO, WaW are all VERY active. Why? Because PRIVATE SERVERS. The servers are upkept. They are moderated. They can be modded for even more game content. The lobby system of each game is basically forgotten about by the game devs when the new game comes out, a year after release.
WE DESERVE THE CHOICE. Not to be FORCED into the crappy console matchmaking system.
I want the choice to play all maps the game offers, and to use whatever weapons I want. And to not be banned by some random kid troll just because he feels like doing that (ever tried playing Tomahawk only in Black Ops 1? After some time, you become pretty good at it and people with normal guns don't stand a chance, that's when admins start banning you after a few double-triple kills).
♥♥♥♥ community controlled servers. It sucks balls. Humanity is too dumb and selfish to not abuse such privileges. Black Ops II's system is the one that simply works and I want that.
Only if it's unranked like MW3, otherwise I can do without them in ranked after Black Ops 1.
BO3 for PC has 100% dedicated servers. There are no hosts. It is only consoles that get the hybrid model. PC does not.
In my solution we would have BOTH.
You don't have to play on our servers, and we don't have to play with your hacker-infested lobby.
Also, most clans that set up servers have rules that the clan finds fun. Like if they ban certain weapons, want to only use certain killstreaks, etc. The beauty of that is, if you don't like the server you can just leave!
I'd rather play consistently with people I know and a gametype I like than with whiney 5 year olds calling me a noob every 4 seconds and hackers galore.
With the lobby system, games die quick. With the server system, games live on.
Seriously, look at CoD4. It came out almost a decade ago and it's still going strong. Now, go ahead and look at MW2, BO2, MW3, Ghosts... those games are almost completely dead! And IW/Treyarch don't give a ♥♥♥♥ because they can pump out a new game the next year and all the fanboys will flock to it.
The server system is even found in games like Battlefield 3 and 4. Both made by the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ EA, both still very, very active due to dedicated community servers.
Server browsers alone don't play a real role in a games lifespan.
