Can't pause or check score with Xbox 1 controller

got a xbox one controller and official wireless usb adapter, used to work properly before xmas but since then cannot pause or check score in game
the start and back (or whatever the left button is called) work in the menus prior to actual gameplay but decide to not work in the actual game.

can anyone help?

wait what? im assuming you are talking about the in game aim assist - which ive turned off since its annoying to aim a sniper when someone runs near you/or when melee only and camera freaks out

erm never done 1v1 ever so - nope just nope

I think its a bug, tried splitscreening campaign with a friend and some of the buttons didn't work. Works fine if you're playing solo though.

in multiplayer TDM - used to work no problem for a month and for no reason can't pause
googled online for if its a common problem but couldn't find anything
did you alter anything between split screen and solo or was both players xbox one controllers or 1 keyboard 1 controller?

1 Keyboard and 1 controller. I was on keyboard so I simply fixed the problem by resetting the controls to default. For solo however, whenever I use a controller in multiplayer all the buttons seem to work fine for me.

i'll try a reset to default since i wanted to avoid it due to keyboard mapping for zombies

Its more than likely a bug from the latest update, hopefully it will be fixed. I got Black Ops 3 a week after it released and this did not happen to me until the update.

I use a controller due to how twitchy my hand can be for precise aiming in fps games - might be lesser than a keyboard, but i manage
