Also, make sure the game recognises the controller by testing if inputs made using it make the game switch to controller prompts, or test through whatever other way you know.
If you don’t see either, increase the party Player Limit from Social > Manage Party, as mentioned in my previous comment.
If you see “Add Controller For Split Screen” but you have a controller connected already, then the controller might not be recognised. Check on Steam that the controller layout the game is using is mapped to controller inputs, not keyboard inputs. If you’re using any controller that isn’t a PS4 controller, you likely need to enable Steam Input for the game. Follow this:
- Find the game through your Steam library, right-click it, then go through: Properties… > Controller. Change the setting for: Override for Call of Duty: Black Ops III to “Enable Steam Input”. This emulates all controllers as Xbox controllers for BO3.
For a PS4 controller, you can alternatively disable Steam Input for the game. Follow one method from below:If you see a button that says “ACTIVATE SPLITSCREEN”, then simply click it with your mouse to connect the splitscreen player.
