@Pros; How do you made a burst-weapon effective?
I'm talking about guns like the XR2 and M8A7. Trying to diamond rifles but these guns are both a pain in the ass to use.

Actualy rapid fire is pretty bad and it's mostly placebo. Anyways I'm doing this not to try to start an arguement just as a statement letting you know it isn't very powerful.

Burst guns are awesome if you're an accurate shooter. Pull trigger - move mouse around - bullets go to different angles.

I use HC mode for everything but knife and sniper rifles. It works so much better. just click and drag the sights across their head for easy headshots

Just steady your aim and work on your twitch shots. Keep a fair distance from enemies and you should kill most of them within the first burst. High Caliber also makes things a bit easier.

the only reason why rapid fire is good on burst weapons is becouse in xr2 with out rapid fire the shotting between bursts are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow ,with rapid fire the weapon is still accurate and u hit more faster

Elo, High caliber, and long range. Rapid fire created too much recoil with mouse and keyboard anyway.

Recoil ?

We speak abt M8A7 and XR2, they have both any recoil.

First
  • I'm not pro, but I play M8A7 in Normal since my first Level 55 and Instantly Perma unlock at the first Prestige.
  • I have temporary replaced it with KN-44 since the 08 Febr Update for increase my lack of accurancy.
  • I play both MP and Zombies with the M8A7, So i'll try to help you.
  • I'll not write tips for Controller players because I've never use a Controller, so idk the M8A7 gameplay with it. Problably the same, but it's not my world.

My M8A7
  • Elo - High Caliber - Long Barrel - Rapid Fire
  • Both Gold & Red Hex camos
  • Weapon Prestige 2 - Level MAX
  • ~2300 MP Kills, mostly in Normal Domination.
  • ~1100 Zombies Kills
  • KB/M Only.
  • My best K/D weapon. This accurancy is awesome and it's my main problem with other weapons.

Tips
  • If you are a accurate player, search the heads. It's 1 burst kill with Headshot.
  • If not, don't tryhard the heads, it's generally two bursts kill without Headshot, range depending.
  • Don't run fullscoped, use the sight only for adjust your shot and then fire. The only moment when you can fullscope is when you premedite your enemy in corner with radar, sounds, or HATR.
  • Suppressor is really crapp on M8A7. Don't try, it's really underpowered.
  • Don't forget to reload because mags are low. 4 Bullets per burst and generaly 8 bullets per kill with 30Bullets/Mags, it's FAST to empty.
  • There's any best setup, try and adjust for yourself.
  • You'll probably have some difficulty at close range.. More than XR-2 because M8A7 do less damage per burst. Search Midd / High / VeryHigh range fights.
  • Glitch is a good Specialist for both M8 and XR-2, you can correct your failed burst for finish the enemy.
  • Don't be affraid about "Assist". Your mates will probably finish your target.. Burst weapons.. This is probably rectified with the last Rapid Fire buff, haven't play the M8 since.
  • Training, Training, Training, Training.. The best way to learn the M8A7 gameplay. You can use Personnalised lobby with bots and his "Only Headshot" setting. Take a large map like Infection, M8A7 in Combine/Nuk3town should be a difficult learn when you start to play M8A7 :s
  • Imo the M8A7 is viable in all maps. Just difficult on Combine/Nuk3town, but always viable.

Additionnal Informations

Rapid Fire and Midd Range Damage buffed for M8A7 the 08 Febr.

You can see the Rapid fire M8A7 since the update in this video (not mine)

Agreed. I started going consistent with suppressor/high cal/reflex but adding rapid fire into the mix ruined it for me.

Just finnished the xr-2, to me. I fojnd out using quickdraw stock and high caliber worked the best. Im no pro though ☺

Having any problem with the actual RapidFire in M8A7. Possibly FoV/Sensitivity depending, I have the habitude to make many headshot because my training is only headshot every day.

I'll fraps it.

this looks like the absolute worst setup i could possibly think of

Elo - High Caliber - Long Barrel - Rapid Fire

ELO - Quick Draw - Grip - Stock , anyone who claims to have aim will play best with that. for SMG remove ELO and add a Laser if you can

There is no worst or best setup, every setup are player wide. Setup are only made for YOUR gameplay (Sensitivity, Reactivity, Accurancy, Combat range). The most used is Stock - Quick Draw - Long Barrel.

"who claims to have aim" with a full accurancy weapon without any recoil and 1 burst kill every headshot. You doesn't need to have aim for M8A7.

I've probably 150 Hours of M8A7 Gameplay with KB/M (my fav weapon by far) and honestly I'm not accurate with other weapons.. but the M8A7 is really easy to use (with FoV110/120 and low sensitivity)

I'm not a pro, it's my first FPS (wow player 2005-2015) so my aim was really poor during first 100 hours, and my best accurancy is with M8A7 and my setup. I've obviously tryed many setup and honestly Grip/Stock add so many useless precision for me. I'll don't speak abt QuickDraw because the ADS effect is fine for reactive players.

As previously said, there is any worst or best setup, it's absolutly personnal.
