Controller overriding Player 1/Keyboard Mouse controls

Whenever I activate split screen the person who is playing with controller (player 2) is overriding player 1 as well. I've checked all the settings on BO3 but I can't find a solution. I am using keyboard and mouse and the other person is using a wired ps4 controller and we are not using a program.

It probably has something to do with the controller layout you have set up on Steam. Since it’s a PS4 controller and since the game has built-in support for PS4 controllers, instead of figuring out the problem, you can disable Steam Input and make the game use the controller directly instead of through Steam. You can do so by either of the following:

• Find the game through your Steam library, right-click it, then go through: Properties… > Controller. Change the setting for: Override for Call of Duty: Black Ops III to “Disable Steam Input”. This stops Steam from emulating PlayStation controllers as Xbox controllers for BO3.

• Go through: Steam Settings > Controller. Find the setting: Enable Steam Input for PlayStation controllers and disable it, and make sure Steam Input is not enabled for BO3 by following the first method and making sure the setting is not set to “Enable Steam Input”. This stops Steam from emulating PlayStation controllers as Xbox controllers for all your Steam games for which you haven’t overridden their settings to enabled Steam Input.
