BOIII CLIENT HACKED
The BOIII client has been completely hacked. DO NOT install it. The creator has just tweeted that the BOIII client getting popular is not his and contains security risks.

Merk's video is not correct. Do not install any bit of BOIII

Edit: Do not install BOIII as a server hoster. refer to the answer I've highlighted for more info.

I know for a fact that there are vulnerabilities in the BOIII client. The vulnerabilities only affect *server hosters*. Regular players are not at risk whatsoever.

EZ client, as scummy as they are, did fix the old security concerns by using the newest version of the security dll, meaning all that is left is much more complicated exploits that very few people understand/can leverage.

The worst thing that clients will deal with is remote crashes, which is the same issue that regular BO3 has. Momo never implemented all the fixes I sent him, which means tons of the simple exploits that attackers used still work.

The issue is semantics. People define "safe" as different things.

For the BOIII CLIENT (Official and EZ only):

Can people install malware or run remote code on your machine: No

Can people obtain your IP address remotely: Yes

Can people crash you remotely: Yes


For the BOIII SERVER HOSTERS (Official and EZ only):

Can people install malware or run remote code on your machine: Yes

Can people obtain your IP address remotely: Obviously, you are a server

Can people crash you remotely: Yes

For other versions of the BOIII servers (outside of official or EZ), it is exceptionally easy to run remote code. EZ and official BOIII servers are slightly harder to run code on, but are still *relatively easy to run code on*.

The community dedicated servers downloaded through steam tools are 100% unpatched to the old RCE method and attackers can easily install malware through them.

1. No, you are safe, if you not started at all. The Risk starts, if you go on online session or online "private" session. Because ppl (or hacker) need to join your party for the RCE hack (because the ip address of your computer) [This is what i hear and read on another COD like MW2].
2. Depends, if you are/was playing Online Session. But Console should be safer then PC, but not 100% safe to play/use

If you are still afraid, run your anti-software-program (if you have one), use VPN to avoid RCE and go with pc offline (no internet connection -> plug ethernet cable off) and do backups for your data (picture, docs and else).

because they "patched" it in february. I think they can still do things to get your IP but what game can't anyone get your IP easily? I highly doubt they can brick your PC tho.

Stop making things up, you have no idea what you are talking about. Every single time you visit a website connect to a multiplayer game or use any modern service you are giving out your IP address so other computers can send you information, this is quite literally how the internet works.

All known RCE exploits have been patched on this game, and what you are describing is not how they functioned at all. I can see your internal IP right now, 192.168.1.3, you need to upgrade your firewall to an ice wall.
