Campaign to complex for it's own good. (Spoilers)
When I finished the campaign, my first thought was wtf. I thought is was a decent tale, about a rogue a.i. and an infected team.
At least that was until you walked out at the end saying you were Taylor.

Researching, first came across:

Showing that those mission reports that scroll by real quick before picking out the location and name of the mission, this time were actually showing vital plot information. Like super vital, completely changing the entire nature of the campaign and sequence of events.
For me this explained it best:

Though a bit on the long side. Also I think there was some significance to the Life mission at the end that goes beyond the sequence of events which ends with the first mission being "nominal" last. I think that Life takes place after and outside of that. That it is actually happening.
But beyond that, I feel the subtatly employed in BO3 probably went above the thought threshold that most tend to dedicate to COD campaigns. Due to this there are alot of the campaign is horrible, the worst COD campaign evers. While people are entitled to thier opinion I'd wager that most either didn't understand it, or felt that the pieces to make it comprehensable where too subtle or hidden within the game/
