The rate of fire is fine, whats the worse is the time to aim down sight, but it picks up.
Honestly I'm just running and gunning, haven't needed to lead anyone.
Sadly your are right on that.
True, but the Nailgun has the range of a sniper, minimum or no recoil and a insane ROF.
I've just noticed that hip firing is terrible, the bullet spread is insane and it hard to get a kill unless their right next to you.
But using laser sight should fix this.
The head-shot damage on it can be ridiculous at times.
I've been getting a lot of multi, triple and quad kills with this weapons. It fun to use, at times it can be and does feel a little cheap.
I don't own the weapon in question. I haven't tried it out too much either. I've been killed by the gun plenty though. And when I did get to try it, I felt it shared similarities with the Mx Garand (I own one). In that the Mx Garand is incredibly good at TTK (better than the Sheiva in ADS time, fire rate, and Damage), but has trade offs that keep it down to earth and perhaps even inferior to it's stock counterpart overall.
Basically, I'd take a VMP over a nailgun any day, and I'd rather have someone using this nailgun thingy against me instead of a VMP, because that VMP has some insane milage with it's naturally tight hip-fire spread and a huge clip when considing how many bullets it kills in. The VMP is like a sub-shotgun in how effective it can be at close range really. Every other sub would need a laser sight and extended mags to have similar effectiveness. Which is why I hate the VMP and love it at the same time. Nerf that thing instead.
The nailgun's (not sure on it's exact name) bane is much like the Nx Shadowclaw or the Banshii. That being it requires shots being lead. Which isn't a big deal against lower skilled players, but seems to be more of an issue in higher skill floors. Infact, I own a Max Prestige Dark Matter'd Banshii myself among a few other SD weapons, so I can say without a doubt I'm used to leading shots when necessary. Problem is no matter how good I am at leading shots, close ranged jumpers are simply too mobile in some situations for a shot to be consistently lead before I die. I'd say that's the weakness of the nailgun and why it's competitively inferior. It's not so good in dogfights. And dogfights can happen all the time with close range weaponry. At least, it does when good players are in the lobby.
Don't worry, I don't think anyone would hate on you just for playing on console.
I usually play these multi-plat shooters on PS4, because the player base is bigger and you get more in variety when it comes to game modes and activities.
I agree that the VMP is overpower to some degree, but honestly it's no longer a threat after all the Nerfs, it sucks at long distances and is only decent at mid range and at close range it's a monster.
But when you factor in it's limited distance and the insane recoil, once you've experienced it, it's easy to adapt to and take advantage of.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes you'll go up against those that run FMJ, Grip and reflex sight and that can make for a terrible experience, but that's a rare scenario.
It might be a difference between the pc version and the console version or they made changes to the nailgun, but you don't need to lead any of your shots, I've been running around and using it like it's an SMG or Assault rifle.
This thing has unlimited range and limited recoil at long distance and no recoil at close and mid range.
I've been consistently beating out snipers, with this thing. I'm pretty sure, I killed a whole team with 1 mag, maybe 1 and a half of a mag.
I can barely find a fault with this weapon.
Maybe this weapon was made for me, everyone has that one weapon that their most skilled with.
For me it's the razor back, but I just had to stop using it, as it wasn't fun and it felt cheap after awhile.
Also, in regards to dog fights that are up close and personal, I simply stop ADSing while shooting, then move or jump about and when I have the shot I'll start ADSing again.
So at times, I'm constantly snapping in and out, trying to get a better shot and switching my position.
I do that a lot and it allows me to dodge a few incoming bullets and do more damage on those that jump and slide about, because their usually hip firing and can't get any real critical shots.
I've used the nailgun against new players, lower skilled players, average players and skilled players and the nail gun behaves the same against all of them.
Maybe I just had a really good day, I will use it some more today and see how it goes.
Ahaha i did the same thing when I first encountered it and kept going up against this one guy, his name was something like "captain pete" or something like that, he was wrecking everyone on my team, I thought he was cheating at first, but then I conceded that this thing is OP.
(Also, I don't know if the name is correct but it's close, also I don't know if this falls under naming and shaming, It's more praise than anything, I've never read the steam terms on this, but I've seen people mention it before, let me know if this is oka or not and I'll remove it.)
