origins being the 1st and revelations the last, story wise.
well in bo3 the story is as the maps were released, first SoE, DE,ZnS,gorod and lastly revelations but before bo3 its a mix of all the other games.
i cant remember the order exept for first and last map, but i think it was MotD as 2nd, natch as 3rd etc,
this is the order i found after some google but if its true or not i cant confirm but it seems most likely as the right one.
1. origins
2. mob of the dead /MotD
3. Natch der untoten
4. Verrukt
5. Shi no numa
6. Der reise (otherwise known as the giant in bo3)
7. Kino der toten
8. Five
9. Ascension
10. Call of the dead /CotD
11. Shangri-la
12. Moon
13. Nuketown
14. Tranzit
15. Die rise
16. Buried
17. Shadows of evil / SoE
19. Der Eisendrache / DE
20. Zetsubou no shima / ZnS
21. Gorod krovi / GK
22. Revelations
DO note that some of these maps dont even have an EE but it still follows the chronological order.
but where have you found that trailer for ZnS about some doctor burning documents? i have never seen or heard about that before.
It looked like the fragment of a story related cutscene but it wasn't in the intro or in the easter egg outro. Anyway, you're saying that all we can learn of the story is from the cinematics of those 2 moments of the playthrough, right?
well not really, that trailer is especially for ZnS and a bit for gorod krovi( like 2 sec only), in order to get full story you have to play all the maps from map 1 to well might be 17-18 or just watch the cutscenes for each EE.. keep in mind that Bo2 has 2 different alternatives for some maps, such as buried, tranzit and die rise and they have a different story depending on which side you choose but also what would have happen if maxis or richthofen was dead/alive
that cutscene where he burns the documents is a part of korod krovi, the map that was released after ZnS and gorod krovi has dragons which you can control and ride although there isn't much interacting with them
But even if gorod didnt have the dragons, i think the most logical thing why he destroyed those documents on the dragons were maybe bcoz he didnt want anyone else to find out about it to continue more experiments or if that was a paper on how to revive dragons. (IF there by any chance appeared any other survivors exept for themself.)
Overall, you have to play or watch all the other maps from the older games to get some of the story, playing just bo3 will not give you full insight.
A couple things here:
-The Giant (the BO3 version of Der Riese) isn't just a remaster for the sake of remastering. While the WaW version of Der Riese takes place after Shi no Numa, The Giant takes place after Origins.
-This detail isn't very important, but Five and Ascension take place at the same time.
But think of it this way: old takeo arrives at the island, starts to explore but get caught, now by these soldiers he gets taken to the spider to go trough some experiments and after that, they move him to another place and "god" knows what happens next ..
The trailers just shows a hint on what will/can happen, after that its just your own imagination on would've happen
its really hard to explain everything to someone who never done a single 3arc zombies.
the best chance you got is to either play all the maps/games or watch it all on youtube/google, 1 map doesn't conclude the whole story on why, when or how it happened.
have you seen the resident evil films? if so, its basically the same with those, 1st movie just showed how it started and the latest, 6th shows why.
IF a person would start to watch, lets say the 3rd movie in that hexalogy or whatever its called, that wouldn't explain why or how it happened, its simply a continuation or a filler in most cases.
Overall, you cant just simply see/play some of the later released maps/movies and expect to understand everything about it.
