Zetsubou Masamune underwater plant not working

I was trying to get the kt4 upgrade and watered the plant for 3 rounds in a row with rainbow water. But when I was done the plant was dead, as if I forgot to water it one round. Thing is, I had a full bucket when I started, camped in the cave for 3 rounds and waited out the fouth one for the plant to be finished. My bucket was then empty is I obviously did not forget it one round.

Was it because I did it before acquiring the actual kt4? the zombies took too long to drop the final part so I just went ahead with the Masamune in the meantime. did I really get punished for being TOO efficient?

the final kt4 part isn't the problem here, I'm asking if I have to assemble the kt4 before I can gather the upgrade materials, or if I perhaps missed something else

did you finish all your trials? those lead to up grading the kt4; maybe thats why the plant glitched out? but, I would think that the kt4 needs to be made beofre hand, as you can not enter the spider boss room without it, to get that part as well..

I wasn't finished with the trials, no. I tried to finish everything during early rounds so I thought I could change up the order, but apparently not
that's really stupid design by treyarch, but thanks anyways

you need to do the spider boss fight then you can start doing the underwater plant.

that shouldnt be needed. i never killed spider boss or finished all trials before i used the rainbow water on plant.
but the thing is, you might have forgotten it and maybe skipped 1 round so it died, specially during spiderrounds as its easier to forget it then.

nope, didn't forget it a single round. I clearly remember it being at the final stage when I emptied my bucket. I was down in the cavern the entire time. a bucket has max 3 charges, it was full when I started and empty when I was done

well what i ment was, that you maybe forgot it instead after you finished to water it, you still only got 1 round to pick up the plant before it dies.
its not a like a blue, green etc plant where you can just leave it and it stays alive until you feel to pick it up.

well its something you have forgotten, either to water or pick it up fast enough.
I just tried this step several times after you posted the issue but the plant was always successful.

I went down there as soon as the round was over, the same round that I watered it for the final time. I have rewatched the gameplay in theater mode and I didn't miss a single round

it actually does, unless they changed that since i last left it do die ( which is like over 1 year ago..), i have noticed they have changed some small things on each map over the past updates, such as the revival plant and the blue plants. The revival plant now has better chance to spawn if you use kt4/masamune+blue water, earlier it was just kt4 and any water to spawn it on an increased rate and the blue plants seems to spawn weapons more often than powerups/drops now, but that may just be the retarded RNG in a nutshell...

Well if you did all that and it still failed, then yeah its something wierd.
Well if you want i could help you do it just to see if it works or its something else, maybe its some visual glitch or something?..

Also, i have noticed you havent done any of the ee's, i could also help you with some of them if you would want that .

I finally got the Masamune last night, this time after first acquiring the kt4 and defeating the giant spider just to be on the safe side
I do appreciate the offer, but I mostly just play solo to relax while I listen to music. I'm not really that interested in ee's. Thanks though

Build the normal kt4 first, after that you can aquire the rainbowplant for the upgrade. As simple as that.

a friend and I have recently gained interest in the ee's, if it would still be possible to take you up on that offer
